Superjet wont start, ran fine one day now won't start

Hey guys, i know there are a bunch of similar threads but i haven't found one with my exact issue.

So, my jetski sat for about a year due to shoulder surgery and unable to use it. When i went to start it, it would run for about 5 seconds and shut down.
i put new plugs in, new battery, new fuel filter. Jetski cranked up and ran perfect for about 10 mins out the water. Thought everything was good so next day i went to launch it, put it in the water, hit the start button and it just wouldn't start. Crank was good, kept rolling over and over but no start. Brought it home, took the plugs out, cleaned them, tried again and it just won't start. Checked the spark, seemed low but IMO, enough to start it. Put gas in the carb, cranked it over, nothing. It will roll over all day, there's spark, but its just not starting.

Could timing have jumped or something in the computer fried?

Any help would be appreciated!!

put brand new plugs in it or try other plugs. used plugs that spark, don't always make it fire. I just had that happen. it didn't jump time and the computer aint fried or it wouldn't have spark. dump more gas down the carb. totally dry motor sometimes takes more gas to get it going.

Thanks for the reply. I put brand new plugs in it again today and still won't start. I dumped a lot of gas down the carbs and still nothing.

I had a flush kit on the bike though and I've been reading that if you run water through for a while without the engine on, it can force water into the engine and when you go to start it next time, you can hydro lock it. Is this true?

Fuel and spark yet it still doesn't run, that happened once to me and it ended up being a broken reed. (causes were totally different than what you're describing) Also can be caused by vacuum leak on intake side. That happened on my brothers' wave raider. Poop wouldn't run then they pulled carbs off and replaced gasket and it decided to run lol. Edit: I should mention that this one did actually run but backfired a lot. Always good to pressure test your engine to help diagnosis

Whats good psi for these things? A mechanic told me like 65 but everything ive read online says around 150 per cylinder?

I figured even if it was anything bad in the card, once i dump fuel straight into the top of the carb, it should start up off the fuel i added

I meant crank case pressure test not compression (that should be around 150).

Crankcase should hold about 8 psi. About 10 minutes to be sure.

bad crank seals or bad reeds are not going to make it not fire. are the plugs wet or dry after trying to start it? if there is water in the cases, it drounds the plugs and it wont fire. crank it over with the plugs out and see if ANY water comes out the plug hole.

I’ve got a feeling he’s gonna have his own personal Old Faithful experience. Make sure your're not looking down the plug holes when you do this!!

When I had the broke reed it would not run unless you smothered the carbs and then it would run for one second then die. Just saying. (A petal had completely broke off)

I agree it's probably another issue at play such as water in cases.

I had similiar thing happen on my ski, broken reed petal. Would run okay on the trailer, and as soon as i put it in the water it would not want to start at all.

Running the hose without the engine going isn't good - you want to do it in this order, always:

Engine start
Hose on
Hose off
Engine off

Check compression, each cylinder should read ~150 psi on a stock motor

Does it sputter or sound like it's trying to fire when you pour fuel in?

Definitely need to rebuild or at least take apart and clean the carb(s). When a ski sits for some time, anything rubber is suspect, especially the rubber carb parts, since they can be quite sensitive. Would consider replacing the pulse line as well (simple to try).
