Superjet wont start up.

My SN superjet shut off. When I tried to start it again, it would not start. The battery was sizzling. Turns out the bendix was stuck on the flywheel, so it wouldn’t crank. I took off the flywheel cover and freed up the bendix and replaced with a good battery. Still won’t crank? I jumped the solenoid and it won’t crank. Are my wires somewhere fried?

Post a video to YouTube, and share the link.

If you’re concerned with the cable leads, first test continuity/resistance using a multimeter for each lead: no continuity/high resistance= replace. Also, you can use jumper cables to add an extra ground by going from the negative to any ferrous bolt on the block, as an additional check.

Is the Bendix stuck on the flywheel again, or is returning to seated position properly? The spring wears out, and so do the front and rear Bendix bushings not allowing proper clutch behavior. Bendix should return to seated position, and should have very little side to side wiggle room (referring to bushing wear).

Is the starter OEM, or is it aftermarket? AM starters are GARBAGE, and fail quickly. I’d also check for water intrusion, if you didn’t use a new gasket after putting the flywheel cover back on.

Again, a video of the issue will certainly help.

I am guessing your starter is fried.....

Typically it is a bad start relay that sticks, and makes the starter crank continuously. Make sure you replace with OE.

Got a starter from JetManiac. Put it on and it still won’t crank when I press the S/S switch. The positive is hooked up; and when I jumped the solenoid, it sparked but did not spin the starter. Solenoid is NOT clicking.

Is there any sound at all when you bench test/short the start relay/solenoid? Again, a video would help the X help you. Have you pulled apart the start/stop switch harness connectors, and meter-tested the start switch wires for continuity (as the start button is being depressed)?

The solenoid does not click. I have not tested the start stop switch, but it worked fine before. I will test it with a volt meter tomorrow.
Before the starter fried, the solenoid was clicking. Then the clicking stopped. I replaced the starter. Still nothing.

You say it shut off. Do you mean it died while you were riding it? Try starting it with the Bendix and flywheel removed. If the starter turns over you have a Bendix problem. If it doesn't then you need to look at your start switch, solenoid and wiring. Since you jumped the solenoid I would think the problem is after the solenoid.
Have you confirmed that the motor is not seized? Pull the plugs and turn the motor over at the coupler by hand and confirm that it moves freely.

This also may be a dumb question, but in your picture the starter is shown with the negative attached, but no positive on the starter from the load side of the relay. Did this by chance get missed? That would definitely cause no electricity to the starter...

I would also be dubious of the relay/solenoid. When testing this, no electricity= OL or open line meter reading (no continuity).

You need to do some testing with a multi meter. Start at the switch, and check both start / stop side. Then down to the start relay, and then to the starter. Check to see where you are loosing voltage.
