What was the last thing you changed before it started running poorly?
Pull spark plug and check compression.

check the cooling line from the pump
may be a blockage or pebble in an L on the incoming water line causing overheating
 
that little rubber piece on the top of the head with th wires attatched is the sensor.it reduces power to the motor when overheating but keeps running to not leave you stranded
 
if you don't have water coming out of the pisser, then that's the root of the problem. like others have said, that's causing your engine to overheat and if you're still using the temp sensor in the head, then its reducing power. you gotta figure out what causing the water problem. pull spark plugs and see if they have water on them. hit the starter button without the plugs in the head.
