Its all about the surf!
Location
Oceanside, CA
its patrolled by tanks! the ride from the marina seems like forever, and if your ski breaks, the tow back does take forever. other than that, not a bad spot to ride.

The beach is not patrolled by tanks. You must be referring to the AAV’s. They are amphibious troop carriers

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphibious_Assault_Vehicle

Pendleton is a Marine Amphibious Training Center, it would make sense that Military vehicles were present. The marines drive them up and down the beach for practice. The guys driving them are kids, usually around 19yrs old and have no policing powers. They couldn’t care less if we ride our skis in the surf there. The AAV’s at Pendleton don’t even have a gun! If I had a dollar for every time I was up on the beach and a convoy of those things came rumbling by I could retire. Ironically the AAV’s have a pump system similar to a ski for propulsion when they’re in the water. BTW the ride from the marina is about three miles, are you that out of shape? When we have a break down we just tow full speed with a 25’ tow rope. It takes about 5 minutes to get back to the marina.

I'll take my NEW spot over Pismo... ANY day! No drunk jack holes rippin their quads or dune buggies at 3am, no rescue vehicles flying by every 15 mins cuz some idiot wadded up, no heavy wind cutting through in the afternoon, and best of all... no 3 hour drive to and from.
My new piece of paradise:

I vote for the next Freeride event there.... Ha ha !!!

Do you mean ANY WHERE IN THE WORLD? If I could move anywhere in the world based solely on WAVE riding conditions it would most likely be somewhere in the Indian Ocean like the Maldives. The Maldives has consistent surf, tropical climate with year round 80 degree warm water, and very few people.

If you mean Stateside then I would choose my hometown of Oceanside in North San Diego County. Oceanside has the best year round weather in the entire US, and best of all we have the Camp Pendleton Marine base which gives us 16 miles of deserted, un-patrolled beach were we can ride skis in the surf zone. Also because Oceanside has little to NO wind, the surf has better shape than most other spots and we're really close to Mexico’s ridiculously good surf

Based on all the vids Ive seen posted of surf rides,Id have to agree,OS is the best waves for skis ive seen stateside.Id love to move to San diego,With weather like that everyday, waves to ride as pretty as that, and the Chargers on sundays.I cant think of a better place in the us to live. Ive always dreamed of Retiring to the maldives, buying a nice size boat and running a surf camp, and of course keep a few skis for buds around.
