I agree with keeping it simple. Goes without saying but take your time assembling that motor. Check the crank for deflection and bad bearings. Get new oem seals and apply grease to the lips. Check your ring gap. Don't have any machine work done by locals. Send to a jet ski specific shop. Pressure test your motor, making plates and seals if you don't have them. Get mikuni carb kit(s) and check your pop off. Etc etc etc

Why not just get an SBT crank from JM.. Use oem seals, new gaskets , freshen up top end assemble correctly and Done!! But if you want to spend more money and complicate things then go that route.

speaking of spending more money, you can source the cranks through sbt yourself considerably cheaper than said vendors with just a phone call

Incorrect if you are referring to JetManiac as a crank vendor. Have you ever bought a crank from SBT?
SBT requires a core crank and charges Fedex express with signature required for all cranks shipped, and charges return shipping at Fedex express rates for core crank return. We charge the same SBT price of 199. for a Yami 650/701/760 crank. If you are a local customer, bring your core crank and pickup the new crank, then price is identical to SBT.
$229./shipped if you provide a core crank. $259./shipped without core crank. Try to order a crank from SBT and then compare the total price, especially to California.
We keep our prices low by buying up lots of crank cores and driving them to SBT directly and picking up rebuilt cranks from SBT directly. We frequently sell cranks to other SBT dealers because their total cost is less even including their dealer discount.
There is a reason JetManiac is SBT's largest crank dealer.
Also you can get OEM crank seals and better quality US made gaskets shipped with your crank for no extra shipping. These are unavailable from SBT.
