SURF SEAL!!!

Just saw that someone by the user name: jetskirx is selling the EXACT same type of hood seals and calling them "surf hood seals" on eBay.

The user basically replicated the ads that I had, same price point, and even had the nerve to use MY photos in the ad.

I've received numerous mssgs here about the Surf Seal and why we stopped carrying them. Bottom line- the material eventually turned to crap and made for a bad product. We had several come apart after a very short time. There is a better material for them but the cost was too high and we didn't want to have issues with people being unhappy so we stopped all together.

Please know that the ones on eBay are NOT from us, they have nothing to do with us, and I've politely asked the user to not use the term Surf Seal.

It's weatherstripping from Mc Master Carr or Grainger that is sold in bulk and cut to length. It will last for a while but wherever those companies get it from- the quality of it has drastically diminished.

There is only one manufacturer that makes the same type of product that WILL hold up but its expensive :(. If I could ever find a way to get that product and be able to get it out to yall for a fair cost, I would. The concept of the seal is perfect!

Just wanted to clear the air. If anyone has any questions please feel free to fire away!

Thanx-

LG

So what is the best option? The seal on my SN is starting to look a little rough. Is OEM the way to go?

OEM is not an option for SN, they were discontinued awhile ago. Watcon is best bet for a SN.

OEM is still the best for RN, but pricey and can easily be damaged.

so chris should i go with stock or watcon i am in line for a new one also for my krash?

Not sure how fitment is for Krash hulls. OEM will only work on hood seals that are exact oem SJ sized. If different at all, Watcon is a universal type fit.

I talked with LG about this a while back because mine had finally failed in the front. He lead me to this http://osdparts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3953

I put one of my SJ hood to replace the old one and also on my FX1 hood. These are just so nice compared to the standard seals in my opinion.

I ordered them and the quality seems pretty good. Just installed so no ride time yet but will keep you posted on durability.

Are you mounting that to the hood or the hull? Any pics mounted?

How did that OSD hood seal hold up? Looking to buy a few feet of it for my SJ as well.
