Well, the engines were old. I lost two reeds on my first 701 and one on one of my past 650's which caused the bottom end to give out both cases

Throw a single 44 on it. You'll have plenty of power to do whatever you need in the surf with a single 44 on your setup. You'll love how good the ski is on gas too. Easily get an hour and half out of tank maybe two hours if your stretching it. That what's in my ski now and I don't think you need anymore than that in the surf.

Best surf setup IMO-Single 44, stock bore, B-pipe, Head, MSD, 12/17 swirl skat.

Wondering who has personal experience with this one................

I have a 701 (62T), b-pipe, advent, 35 cc domes, and the dual 48 full spec carbs with billet manifold and 3 stage carbon reeds. The ski rips pretty good, but is not as crisp right off idle as I would like. Mid range is awesome and hard to hold on to. I rode a single 48 Riva powerbomb ski with the same pipe and head set up and it seemed to hit harder off idle, but not in the mid to high (but needed some tuning to be fair).

I have been told my 48s are too much for a stock motor-I have also had several people say its the hardest hitting SJ they have ridden.............I understand airflow and carbs and it stands to reason that the higher airspeed of a single would help bottom and mid on this setup, but I would need at least a manifold and possibly some good reeds/cages (v-force?) I am a little reluctant to change it, but would like to get more hit off the bottom. This is a surf/freestyle ski only and top end is not an issue............

Any chance the Riva works better than the Full Spec, or is it a single vs dual issue?

Has anyone done any testing or swapping under these conditions and come to a reasonable conclusion?

preventative maintenance is the ********. Using carbon or plastic, all I have to worry about besides old age is the screws coming out of the reed cages (which just happened as well to my other 6m6) I use the strongest loctite I can get now.

Okay okay.....point taken.

Up until this point, I had never heard of one actually breaking. So, I learned something.

I am going to be trying a single 48 this season hopefully it works out okay because I dont feel like buying more carbs. Riva 48 powerbomb, 790cc, practically the exact same setup as most of the blowsion freeride skis are/where running (JK, Hollywood, etc.)

doesn't the 701 62T come with 38mm mikunis they should make plenty of bottom end hit. If you still have them and the stock manafold bolt them on and see what happens I think they have a passage in the manafold and from what I understand it is common to epoxy them up and re-jet . This will make the bottom end hit even better .
KEEP IN MIND I AM A KAWI GUY SO WHAT DO I KNOW.
