A little info on the town of Westport:
Westport is located 13 spectacular miles north of Fort Bragg.
This tiny town once had a thriving population of over 20,000 people
when Lumber was king and the North Coast was home to fishermen and loggers.
Today the population is a little more than 230.

This is where the word "Localism" was probably born.....
Got to keep it on the low side, I don't think they will welcome a bunch of wild loud motorized smoking......you know what I mean.

I want to go there at least once and check it out.
There is a Member here that lives up there or close by and says the place is off the hook.......

I PM the guy that rides there for some input.
My understanding is that there is an area you can go down with your truck, make sure it is a 4x4, and you have to be careful as there is an area where the tide comes up fast so careful parking there.

Benny

Ive lived in Norcal most of my life and I can tell you that if you have a good cart there are many places you can get away with riding. If you head up to that beach above......along hwy 1 there are a bunch of coves that you could ride at and the rangers wouldnt really see you unless given a reason to head down there.

If I still lived there, I would do it. Just past Bodega Bay heading north. Point Reyes would be awesome but, simply too many Rangers.

I only say this because of all the stuff I did growing up ......and doing things that we were not supposed to do out there on the beaches.

Me too. As soon as I get my RN back in the water I am heading up there.
Dude responded to me and said it was all good so I can't wait.
Rocks? I would think so, always watch for stuff like that.

Never will understand the consistant banning mentality of the liberal left or any political affiliation, Agenda driven, I guess??

Actually, most of the people funding the banning are not the liberal left, but rich yacht owners that want the water to themselves...and don't want jetskis buzzing around their boats. Enviro-hippies cannot afford to ban anything.

Tahoe is a different story. They don't even allow 2 stroke boats. That water is sooooooooo clean and thats how they want to keep it. You can't even fertilize your lawn up there. Its a sanctuary and thats fine, but the west coast sucks. I don't see any reason they can't make a ride zone in San Diego like they have in Daytona....Shoot, nobody surfs at dog beach, they could make it there. Dogs running around and jetskis rippin! They let them in the bay, so it's not enviro driven in so-cal...

The Jetty, (dog beach) in Ocean Beach is one of the most recognized surf spots in San Diego. Its where I grew up. I like the way things are in southern California. Oceanside is our spot, its where we go to ride without having any hassle from a surfer claiming a spot on the beach. Every surf break in southern California has lots of history and is swarming with surfers. Thats how it should be. Do you really think a few guys on jet skis are going to have the right to claim a local surf spot, when already thousands of surfers are there every day.

Two stroke or not, anything with a throttle is a powered vessel. No way will anyone ever let an electric jet ski zip around with people in the water.

I do know of two guys that received permits to ride Imperial Beach certain days of the week at specific times. I really do wish that we could receive permits to ride Point Loma. All the other breaks are either renown for their surf history, or there is absolutely no way of getting a truck/ski down to that spot.

The environmental wack jobs never stop .... they just keep cumming. We fight them in the north Ga mountains all the time. They are constantly trying to close down Mountain bike trails and other areas for "preservation" . Preservation is a code word for limited to no access for the tax payers that own the land in the first place. All public land should be open to all the public types of public use. There should be access for every one on a rotating schedule. Stay tuned boys they are just getting warmed up.

For the enviro crowd i.e. ( liberal left ) nature is there GOD . Ridding a 2 stroke ski in the ocean would be like some one ridding a banshee through the Vatican and giving the Pope the finger. If you have ever attended public meeting concerning the closing of a public area to mountain bike or off road vehicles you would see and understand the crowd you are dealing with....

It makes me want to go PARIS ISLAND E-TOOL SWINGING CRAZY ON THEIR ASS !!!

These people are certainly at the top of my list . You know..... the list of things to fill a ditch with .

My home away from home.
We were at the Monterey Aquarium a couple months ago and mentioned to a chick worker that we had fun at the Pismo dunes some years back (riding). Wouldn't have mentioned it, but she seemed pretty cool. Bad friggin idea. She turned into instant beezy. I wanted to kick her in the t#@t, but walked away instead. Even my 12 yr old daughter was offended by the way she handled it.

Hopefully some day SOON, something can be worked out for everybody involved.

It's so embarrasing to be involved in a sport so full of redneck dumbasses who can't see some areas need to be protected and some areas are ok to allow fast motor vehicles. Enviro-nazis who want everything eveywhere shut down, and right wing nut jobs who want any destructive activity allowed anywhere are equally stupid.

There's got to be a balance. I hate to see people out at Campgrounds leaving garbage behind and acting without a care in the world. I also hate to see the so called environmentalist green crowd "hypocrites" giving you the dirty looks while they pass by on their Kayaks and as soon as they get into their cars....they check their iPods.

It seems to me that some people are just plain selfish.....whatever "works" for them is OK and they can Ban the rest.

YES, 2 stroke engines pollute however the amount of jet skies that are currently in the water is not a significant number compared with all the 2 stroke outboard engine boats out there. Phasing them out is the way to go and "Grandfather" the ones left behind.....don't ban them!

Just like DMV currently does with Cars 1975 or older, they do not need to be smoged but can still drive the roads, their number is low and are becoming extinct. If you own one is most likely a Hot-Rod and becomes more of a Hobby at that point. Their "Carbon Footprint" is almost nonexistent.

I do care about the environment, I make it a point to recycle, my GF shops with with her own bag, we changed her car from a Jeep Cheroke V8 to a Honda CRV and are looking into Hybrids now, I do beach cleanups with a local surfers group (yeah, the enemy), I am currently looking into perhaps getting some solar panels, maybe one for starters and add more later on....WHAT ELSE DO THEY WANT FROM ME !!!!

I just want to ride.....in the surf.....and be left the :):):):) alone.

I swear to God and you guys can laugh all you want at me....
But I will be the first one to ride an Electric stand up ski in the surf in NORCAL....

Benny
I hope so, man. But, these types of people will stop at nothing to keep skis/boats off they're sacred beaches. I'm sure that when water vehicles go electric, they'll fabricate more BS to ban them. We're to the point where no matter what you do, it's damn near (or is) illegal. Cali seems to be the flagship of this trend (aka: PRC).

Do you really believe that? ……There’s this guy, maybe you’ve heard of him, his name is Al Gore?

First of all, SUPER FUN, I'm not a dumb ass redneck or right wing nut job, so I'm sure you must be referring to others on this forum . I am, however, a person that values sane conservation and the freedom to use "our" natural areas. Secondly, I'm no Pacifist, but it's safe to say you're in no danger talking your :):):):) on-line in California. My point is that there is no middle ground for these people. In Georgia we have 752,000 acres of national forest and several hundred thousand acres of state land . Less than 1% of these areas can be accessed by atv /motorcycle / horse back or car. In the first part of the post a member stated that there is a 7000 square mile area where the operation of a personal water craft is banned in California. There are tens of thousands of acres of land and water in this nation where we are not allowed to do .....whatever the activist groups don't like us doing. Are all these areas "sensitive"? So, let's say for fun.... No, let's say for "SUPER FUN", the enviros close down a "sensitive" area. Do they offer another area suitable for use? NO! Can a group successfully petition the state or feds for another area to resume said activities? Sure they can - after they pay for an environmental impact study, apply for stream buffer variances, and some other archeology studies . By the way , these studies take an enormous amount of time and capitol resources to complete. After you do all that is required you still fight the enviros ie. Forrest watch / Serria club in court . Equally stupid ? It is clear what their agenda is, and if you think for one minute this is about protecting " sensitive " areas... You sir, are the obtuse thinker on the board. I apologize if my dumb ass redneck comments or my involvement in "your" sport have offended you in any way .
