Yes it was a large difference and droned on the freeway. I'm sure a generic muffler added would quiet everything back down and still give a good boost

So a bit of an update - decided the more and more I looked at it - the body was completely roached. Put my kids in the back and their feet would fall through. The prior owner did a really good job of hiding all the rust with heavy duty bedliner that made it strong enough for the sale, but not strong enough for long term. So decided full restoration is where we are headed. I have taken the old body off the frame - its going to the dump. Found a group out in AZ that has a good body/front clip. Off to the sandblaster and then to paint! Replacing all suspension, rebuilding transmission and TCase, Steering Knuckles, Wheel Bearings, Brakes, etc. Current update pictures attached. Don't know if anyone is interested but will try and keep it updated as we go.

Rebuilt steering knuckles, wheel bearings, brake calipers, pads, rotors. New YJ leaf springs all around. She is back rolling on all four wheels! Frame is repainted with rust-stop rattle can. Slowly but surely moving forwards!

Well it has been quite awhile since I have updated this. Between work and kids, this project has stretched longer and longer. Had the transmission and t-case rebuilt. Went for some upgraded TCase gears (4.9 to 1). Finally making some progress on the body, its primer ready up. Lizard Skin inside liner and bedliner outside and underneath. Next up is re-doing the wiring harness and exhaust. New Doug Thorley headers arrive this week. Powder coated all the metal pieces I could find. Hopefully some more updates soon.
In the hunt for new hood and two straight/rust free doors. This maybe the hardest part yet.. haha.

Im not sure what you have planned for the engine, but we are selling the engine out of my brothers Samurai. I found him a nice 1.6L swap so we won't need his LowRange motor anymore. You are only 1.5 hrs away!!! Take a look at the craigslist post. Great work by the way!

Thanks @brapperdoodle - however I already have the 16.l 16V swap! Going to clean this one up and reuse! We should try and get the Samurais together in the future if I can ever get this one finished!
