hey fellas,

i have done a few thing to her to try and get a bit more pop out of the water but have been a little disappointed with the results.

mods include:
-factory pipe
-ocean pro flame arrestors,
-stainless impeller (cant remember the pitch off the top. ill post it latter)
-fresh engine with a mild port/polish (more of a cleanup then anything. no timing change)
-a wetwolf freestyle pump cone

it just seems to have gotten lots more top end and not really gained anything down low. can the factory pipe be tuned better to give me less top and more bottom?

I have thought about maybe cutting the head as its stock and only running about 160 psi on the fresh cylinders.
or maybe getting a light flywheel or lightweight coupler but will either of these give me the gain i want?

what am i doing wrong?

cheers guys!

Which pipe do you have? Is it the Limited chamber? If so, its really designed for high RPM power. A timing adjustment could help some.

ya it is the limited pipe. i suppose i should have done a little more research about the pipe. anyone know what water injection settings are best for low end on that limited pipe?

which way would you think would be best to adjust the timing?

You need compression to really make that pipe work well, get your compression to around 175lbs. add a little bit of timing ( Enhancer or slot your pickup coil brac. ) run 91 octane or better fuel add Carbon tech LT reeds restrict the water going to the pipe tail cone and bore that nozzle out. It will be night and day if you have the carbs adjusted right!!

as for a compression increases. think i should just cut the head? (i like the price of this) or go and buy an aftermarket head. you gave a psi rating but that is not always accurate. if I'm having the head cut I'd rather know what squish i should aim for.
i like the price of slotting the coil bracket but is the enhancer much better?

what do mean exactly by restrict the water going to the pipe tail cone?

You can mill your head, but if you cut much off there is a better chance of your head warping. If you send your head to Harry make sure you tell him what sea level your are because it will make a big differents in your comp. The enhancer will give you a little bit of advance in timing and will give you hotter spark and you can set your rev limiter where you want. As for the restricting your water to the cone, The Jetworks flow control valve is the best setup so the pipe will be dry at low speeds and will let water in as you gain rpm. But you can put a restricter inline on your hose going to your cone so there will not be so much water going in especially at low speeds, you can use a jet in your hose or a valve to regulate how much water goes in.

i have herd of the flow control valves not that i see what it is your talking about! from what i have read on group-k website there isn't much issue with warping heads more with breaking cylinder mounts.
i found a timing advance plate (r&d) on e-bay for $50. so i think ill go that way.
ill be sure to tell harry what elevation i'm at.

cheers fellas.

Be sure not to get too much timing with higher compression you will need higher octane fuel, here is the link for the jetworks valve.

totally. i hear ya! ill be sure to watch/listen for detonation. are those r&d advance plates adjustable or are they a set degree of advance?
here is a link to the one i was looking at

hey fellas,

actually going to get a local guy to do the machine work for me. the issue is he is more of a super-jet guy so he doesn't quite know for sure what squish to cut it down to. i'm looking to get the compression up to about 180psi or so. does anyone know what squish i should be gunnin for?

also, he isn't set up to taper-bore nozzles but rather just straight bore them. is there much difference performance wise?

cheers,
Alex D
