Sxi playing up

OK, bought a 1997 sxi 750, completely rebuilt engine, all good with dry pipe, problem is after about a hour it gets a bit crap then drops down to 1 cylinder, I thought it was electrical so changed coil caps and plugs, no change, same problem, so bought a rewound stator put that on, no change same problem, really don't know what to do next, any help appreciated

they didn't make a 1997 sxi here in the states but anyway, did you bypass the overheat sensor?

OK must be earlier 95/96, yes took the sensor off when I did the ebox

did you change the coil leads as well....have you tested the resistance between the two plug caps ? on ski's this old its best to pull the coil and replace the leads entirely with new msd lead wires.

Replaced the coil with new, will check caps but wouldn't that be a problem from the start, not just after about a hour
