sxi pro backfiring

Long story short, I just brought this pro home and ran fine when picked up. Cleaned the carbs and installed a primer kit. Also fixed 2 of the broken plastic grommet caps on the ebox. reassembled everything and now it won't rev out and it backfires like crazy when you try to open the throttle. I rechecked the carbs and they seem good. Could it be an air leak on the carb gaskets? sbt sent me gaskets that didn't quite fit (had to cut the holes bigger).

Air leak normally makes the ski rev high and run away on you.

What Carbs are on it, Keihins, or mikunis? If they re Keihins the Seat seal Oring is leaking, but usually you see some gas leaking outside of the carbs. If its mikuni and it was fuel pump gaskets you had to modify thats most likely it. When it comes to carbs nothing works better then Genuine Mikuni or Keihin.

Check your flywheel. I bought a 750sxi pro and was backfiring also and checked the flywheel to find out it had an aftermarket vilder flywheel which has a differnt timing that stock which wouldn't work with the stock ignition setup.. I put a stock flywheel on and fixed the problem

I resolved it with two carb rebuild kits. Runs like a champ again
