i'm wondering why my waterbox is getting to hot and burning my exhaust hoses? my 800 is an 03, with a factory pipe.

if it is a wetpipe, you need to open up the screws a little more. That is after you have verified your water hoses are not clogged. It is also a good idea to remove the screws and poke a wire through the holes in the headpipe to make sure they are clear as well.

your wet pipe is not getting enough water to keep it cool

I melted a gas tank due to constricting too much water to the stinger with a flow control valve.

Replace the cheap cast alumni. Buckle with billit alum. My first new machine flooded when buckle broke. -not fun. I should put straps.

why is this happening?

First thing I would check is the jet that is in the stinger I bet you will find that it is clogged up. I would also exercise your water screws on the headpipe, verify that all three injection points are clear, apply antisieze to the screw threads and reinstall them. Make sure you return them to the original settings.
