How you remove the chin pad depends on what type of handle pole you have. On an SXR like the one pictured in your avatar the chin pad is held onto the pole by 6 small screws that can be accessed by removing your steering sub plate. BTW you don't really need a pole limiter unless your riding in the surf

disregard that statement. stuff breaks. do everything you can to make it last.
I appreciate 227 input but man I'm on the same boat as u . Handle poles aren't cheap and I'd like to preserve my stock (cheap ) Sxr one . It's gonna break there notorious for it but if I can prevent it I am gonna try . So yeah where is the best place to mount the rope at the pole ?

Well I think that it's a over kill but i guess if you hit a sand bar at 40 mph and join the over the bars club it might help. Unfortunately, if you have any type of aggressive riding style you're going to break that OEM pole regardless though, the Kawi OEM poles are so weak, Kawi did a really poor job when they designed them. Just mount your pole limiter on any solid place on the sub plate that doesn't obstruct the steering

It pretty much a smart guy . I appreciate it input I really do but what because I don't ride surf I can't protect my pole ? Also wake board boats produce a nice wake . I'm gonna drop this it's pointless I'm not on here to argue or be a keyboard tough guy but I think it's idiotic if u don't ride surf u can't protect it ski then you gotta be a smart a** and say oh if u hit a sandbar at 40 and fly over the bars . Thanks for it advice but in gonna go ahead and mount it also if in the event I do hit a sand bar that's a pretty clear indication I don't know how to read the river and have no business on a ski good day

Parker I believe you took my post wrong, I was in no way trying to be disrespectful or a smart a$$. Nor was I trying to discourage you from installing a pole limiter. What I was trying to say was its been my experience that a pole limiter really only protects your pole from over extending forward, which is very common in the surf, but not very common on the river. The only scenario that I could even think of where you might over extend your pole while riding on the river would be hitting a sand bar at high speed, and since that doesn't happen very often, I think they are overkill for the river. That's just my opinion, you don't have to agree with it. If you want to protect your pole with a limiter then by all means do it. Unfortunately, whether you use a limiter or not, the OEM Kawi poles are just plain and simple a weak design. They break most often by tweaking them from side to side so you are more likely to break one with aggressive riding, which I'm sure you do. Sorry my post came across poorly, I was just trying to help

how about pushing the ski away when your not gonna land a jump? The definitely can overextend the pole. A limiting rope is cheap insurance.

Ive went in to deep just doing a straight sub and came out the holds before.. Wrapped my body around the pole like I was holding it to my chest and hugging it. Surprised my kawi 650 pole didn't break off. Better to have it and not need it then need it and not have it...
