SXR SXR Electrical Issue?

I have an 08 SXR it has a wetpipe on it so i have removed the factory temperature sensor and just siliconed the connection and electrical taped it also has the 6 degree timing advance . It also has a Bildge pump installed. I am just stating this to let you guy know about any changes i have done to the electrical system. Now to my problem. The machine runs fine out of water but as soon as i put it in the water it will run ok until about half throttle than it just falls on its face like it is going lean and i have to feather the throttle to get it back to shore. I have adjusted my highspeed screws out as much as 5 full turns and i still cannot get it to stop. Thats why it makes me think that its not a fuel issue even though it feels like it is running lean. Another thing that leads me to it being an electrical issue is that when i went to start it the other day the battery was dead and i just installed a new battery less than a month ago. Im wondering if anyone knows of issues that cause the battery to drain or if anyone has encountered somehting similar. Its almost like the tempeture sensor plug is making a connection causing it to go into a limp mode. Other mods that i have done inlcude vforce 3 reed novi 48 mill carbs, 27cc jsu head, and reed spacers i dont know if that is important i figured i would just let you guys know how she sits incase you think it could be a different issue. Thanks Alot!

Try cutting back the plug wires, checking all the new connections you made, you can add another ground to the e box off the negative on the battery open up you e box clean and put do electric grease on all the connections also check the battery wires to make sure they are not corroded inside the insulation. Also it could just be you have it tuned wrong for the pipe motor set up you are running not my forte so I will let some of the other guys chime in on that

is it possible that it could be the crank seals ive been doing some reading and see some people have similar leaning out issues when in the water and they found it to be the crank seals is there an easy way to check them? Also starting to question the reeds now

scray has a good point on the wires. thats an easy one and happens frequently. I believe he is also on the right path regarding the fuel.

overly rich mixture will shut the ski down quick. I had no luck with factorypipes jet specs on my ski. I can look and see where I am at now.

I have also found many sxr with water in the tank.

a creased fuel pump diaghram will cause problems too.

is there anywhere on the forum that has a break down of taking apart the fuel pump side of the carbs i have only taken apart the float bowls and what all am i looking for inside the pump? Thanks

k so i think i found the problem guys not related to electrical at all :p but im still wondering why my battery is dying but i removed the inline fuel strainer in the diaphragm pump for the carbs and they were completely plugged with crud so cleaned em out. Havent got to try the ski out yet but ill keep you guys posted after i take it to the lake

are you sure its a dead battery and not a bad connection or bad wiring? what was the battery voltage? not picking on you personally I just have had similar problems and a lot of the time its not as cut and dry as it first appears.

its good you found the crud but you need to verify that the little round clear plastic discs for the fuel pump are not creased. they have to be perfectly smooth. only one carb has the pump body on it, should be the rear one. This is what I would look at if your test run is not good.

I beleive it is a dead battery because after putting it on the charger for 30 minutes it started right up, and I looked at the diaphragms on the carbs they seem good to me. I have a set of Novis and they each have their own fuel pump. I should be reinstalling the motor today and hope to fire it up ill let you know how it goes. If there is still a problem where would you suggest to look for a bad connection? Right on the battery terminals?

to use those carbs you will need to put the reed spacer in with the extra pulse fitting or drill the cases for one.

wiring issues can be anywhere. why is the motor out?
