SXR SXR Engine/Pump in a SJ based hull, what has to be done ?

I have someone that wants to put a tweeked out SXR engine with a mag pump in a SJ based Superfreak and I just wanted to know if it can be done without massive work . The firewall and motor mounts can be moved as the ski is still in the planning stage.

Thanks for you input, please not a Yami vs Kawi thread .

Tem,

Kawi mag pump?
Talk with D at the ski clinic. The Gen 2 Bob has a kawi motor and pump option. I would imagen they had numerous brain storming sessions prior to doing the kawi based BOB.

Second thought, I believe sxr-forever was running a yamaha motor in his trinity evo xf. It was setup for kawi and he used a specially made engine plate / bracket. The brackets and a sj pump might be the simplest solution.

Thanks for the input guys ! I wish I could get a trashed SRX motor and pump to mock it up, will start looking around .

I have a set of cases I could send your way. I don't have a crank though and that is crucial for proper motor and pump spacing. Pm me if u want the cases. No cost. I would love to see more kawi hull options.

damn I knew I should have molded the whole pump when I had the chance. if worse comes to worse get in touch with me I have a complete ski and I have a few things I need to discuss with you, maybe we can collaborate?

I have a bad smalll pin crank i can ship you....just as soon as i get it to free itself from this cylinder and top case half.....it seems to have fallen in love.

I have a small pin coupler. There are a few diff options with regards to the drive shaft. I would imagen by now the yamaha motor has found it's sweet spot in the hull. I have no clue on motor weight differences and how that would affect the function of the hull but this site will give you an idea on what oem kawi drive shaft lengths are available.

The kawi bedplate can be modified to move motor forward or backwards. You can gain a bit by using a washer in-between the coupler and crank and coupler and drive shaft. but this should be more fine tuning of motor placement than a starting plan.

A through hull bearing carrier might also be needed if any one has one around.

Good info ! I have a buddy that has a 650 that he'll loan me , is it the same as the SXR as regards to crank center, bed plate, drive shaft, carrier bearing , pump placement ?

650-750-800 are all the same as far as crankshaft centerline, any of these engines are direct bolt in replacements for the others.
