SXR Free Rider

Hey guys, I have an 05 SXR 800 that I've had for a couple of years and I have set up for the stock class to race a little here and there. Unfortunately I yanked my shoulder out of place(again) and will most likely be going in for surgery soon so I am looking to change directions a bit with my ski. I would really like it to be a good jumper but it's pretty heavy. In all honestly by the time I gut or replace the hood, put a factory pipe on it and a waterbox with footholds would I be better off just buying a superjet with maybe just a pipe on it? I know everyone has their opinions and brand preferences but I already have $6000 in this SXR with a brand new crank and wiseco pistons so I know the condition of everything. If the superjet is that good of a jumper compared to the SXR should I just sell my SXR and buy a superjet any run it mostly stock? I don't have anything with a round nose superjet anywhere near me to test ride and since I'm hurt I would like some honest opinions. I would like to have all this sorted out by next summer so hopefully I can have a good time injury free. Thanks guys!

Dude I actually did this , shaved a ton of weight . Hrs of glue removal for a few lbs e box bracket hood shaving etc etc at the end of the day it's still an Sxr and will always be an Sxr . Best advice is like these guys said buy an aftermarket hull .

What does a hull like that run? I really do love my sxr but honestly I can do better freeriding on a 750SX. Are the aftermarket hulls worth a poop turning? I would rather not have $8000 in a hull that don't handle worth a flip for anything but flips.

And honestly is it justifiable for someone like me (not competing in freestyle) to go all out on an aftermarket hull vs just selling my sxr and buying an already setup superjet?

honestly the eme line up minus the micro are pretty good freeride hulls there not super short got a nice v to the bottom as well but nothing's going to turn like a Sxr does u have to know that I'll post some length pics of a Sxr and a q8 either of them are mine tho

and to answer ur question hell ya I think it's worth it to buy a am hull I wouldn't spend 8 k (myself) everyone has a different budget but u can get a fiberglass q8 around 4 and swap all ur parts from ur Sxr . If u spend a little extra u can get a aerial 8 which accepts a Sxr driveshaft q8 takes a 650sx driveshaft huge weight difference tho which is awesome and shorter in height I'll never go back to a Sxr

I would image the Trinity hulls handle very similar to an SXR. They look identical but weigh much less. Korn has one an maybe he can chime in on similarities with his old SXR.
