So my 06 Sxr came with a kart tank which isn't for me as ride times are cut short. What do most people use besides a stock Sxr tank? Would a 550 tank be a good compromise of fuel capacity to space in the hull?

You can literally switch the filler over by cutting up a stock tank...run the lines in the filler and put the filler where the lines come it...it takes a little bit of modding, but has worked great for me for 9 years.

SXi Pro tanks fit really nice, or look out for a used SX_R tank. Post a wanted ad on pwctoday. I'm sure you'll find one quickly and for a steal of a price. Just cap off the tank where the stock filler tube comes in, and buy an internal filler. Blowsion sells them for $250 or so, its pricey but you really don't have any options besides hacking apart a tank which I do not recommend.

Thanks twinturbo, I got a tank on the way. Will make a stop by the rad dudes area and say hey in Daytona. Only 1 month till Daytona!!!!!
