SXR SXR mid range rattle

It sounds like it coming from the pump its a rattle noise comes and goes at different rpm's . Would this be pump bearings? Thanks

My 2011 has a rattle in the pump at mid range to. ???:dunno:

Every Kawasaki I've ever rode has that, it's play in the shaft to the prop fitting I'm pretty sure

Yup, been discussed many times. Mine comes and goes as well. It sounds like ice in a blendor

Last time I had mine apart I put silicon on the splines on the end of the shaft to the prop and helped for a while but came back after several rides but wasn't as loud for sure, mostly just noise when out of the water

My 06 SXR did that, I had some work done on the pump and the guy put a small chunk of rubber, between the drive shaft and the end of the impeller, its been two years and I have not heard it since. How small is "a small of a piece of rubber" I dont know, I can find out.

Mine never did that. Buddy of mines did, our HIN's were consecutive. It is the pump bearings. Rebuild your pump and it should go away.

My 08 never does that... The only rattle I hear sometimes is the pole stop piece when i dont snap it into that rubber clip

stick an extra O ring on the end of your drive shaft to tighten it up....(or maybe the stock oring is gone???) They do break down after a while.


There SHOULD BE a good thick O RING at the end of your driveshaft in the prop is the point of my post. cheap easy fix.

I had no idea there was supposed to be an o-ring down inside the impeller. I just pulled my nose seal and looked in there, sure enough, a nice flat o-ring. Guess I'll slap a new one of those in before I put this pump in.
