SXR SXR stock or modded

Hope you can help. I am looking to buy my first SXR and have found two local ones for sale for roughly the same price.

Since I am new to the sport I'd really appreciate your feedback & advice. I plan to ride hard & fast as I do in all the other sports I do (wakeboard, kiteboard, DH mountainbike etc.), so am not really interested in a 'beginner' model.

One is a stock, low hours 2005 model, while the other is a 2004 with the following mods:
  • Stock Bore OEM Cylinders (175 psi compression)
  • R&D girdled head
  • Hot Rods crankshaft
  • Wiseco forged pistons
  • Dual stage reeds
  • M-16 Reed Spacers
  • Pro-K Pro-lock filters
  • MSD ignition
  • Jetski Solutions plug wires
  • Factory Dry Pipe
  • TBM ride plate
  • Works intake grate
  • UMI handle pole
  • UMI finger throttle
  • Blowsion pole pad
  • Blowsion turn plate
  • Blowsion fat bars
  • Blowsion billet fat bar adapters
  • Blowsion billet gas cap
  • Blowsion billet exhaust end cap
  • Blowsion surf tether
  • Blowsion surf straps
  • Blowsion billet hood clips
  • Blowsion hood latch
  • Blowsion molded rail caps
  • Blowsion dual bilge pumps
  • Pole mounted billet bilge switch
  • Blowsion carbon fiber nose cover
  • Billet red anodized bed plate.

Thanks a lot!

not knowing what kind of person you are or how good you are at wrenching, I would go with the stock and modify as you like, reliability of a stock ski is better than an already thrashed set up, besides a lot of the stuff listed above is Blowsion bling and has zero performance gain, it does look nice.

The motor is rebuilt by.....???? someone in a shed or a shop, do you want to bet a riding season on that motor, people with a ton of time will tell you to go with the mod set up and fix it when it breaks, this is time and money...

I guess what i am saying is it depends on your abilities, time and cash you have.

I would go with the modded ski. There's a couple thousand in extra's on it already. If you went with the stocker you're eventually going to do most of that stuff anyways.

Who chose those mods? Not good choices...a bunch of bling parts, minus the pipe and head. I would get the modded, sell the drypipe and switch out to a Factory wetpipe for reliability.

I have to disagree on that statement. Rideplate is a fine choice, handpole is way better than stock, intake angle change is a plus, nice light billet bedplate, etc all more than bling IMO. We are never gonna agree on pipe Lol but that's kool.

Looks super clean. Throw him a low ball offer, it's been there for a few weeks if not a month. You could also join the northwest jet sports association Facebook page and see if anyone there has more info on it. I bet someone knows that ski

I'm not sure why people say that you always have to wrench on a limited if they are built right you never have to touch it. I've been racing mine all season and the only reason I need to touch it is due to a kid not knowing how to ride and t boned me at world finals.

now that I looked at the pics above, its is a clean ski, looks well taken care of. If you do go with that ski, one thing I noted in the pic of the motor is that the throttle cable is at and angle to the wheel (blue) on the carbs, check for wear on the wheel and abrading of the cable.
