Take a look at my cylinder/porting...does this look right?

I've been there.
Then I realized that I that I could never do what I paid a pro to do.
The sport port is good, but it's leagues apart from a professional port job.

I had fun and decent power with the sport port - go for it.

We will both go for it then :) Matt_E anything you would be able to disclose what to add to our stock 61X cylinders in terms of porting (additional to sport port)?? Or are we getting into "rocket science" territory??

I'd just stick with what the sport port templates tell you to do.
Don't change port heights. You can try matching the ports by making them wider.

Well some people just never learned to stay within the lines... The kawi and SJ templates I used were good and I haven't had any ring or piston related problems yet.

If you have your own, grreat. Otherwise, you can get a pretty good running engine out of a little elbow grease using these...provided you aren't retarded.

Yeah they are good for the average home user i guess, if they stay with in the lines I guess assuming thats what was wrong.
Dont expect massive gains that you get from a profesional port job

Well I bought the "701 freestyle porting template" from an x-h20 user. How much of a difference between the template and having it professionally done? Do you have experience in both or are you just talking?

I have personally only used the first template. The second that SportPort came out with was called the freestyle template. The company sent me a free set of those because they liked a write-up I did on the first template, but I never got to use it.
There's a very substantial difference between the gains of the SportPort template(s) and the gains of a pro-port job. The template is just that - a template.
You get much better results if a professional ports the motor with a complete setup in mind, everything will be in tune with everything else.
A Sport Port template can't do that.
I'm not dissing it - it's a cheap way to make some power in your own garage, on your own.

I do alot of port jobs for people , i dont need to run a sport port against another port job to know there will be a big gain

They have there purpose, but dont think you are even close to proper port job by an experienced person

The sport port only cover a few areas to port and only in a basic way. I've seen a couple of sport port cylinders and I guess its a good place to start but it doesn't mean one understands what and how porting works or effects the performance of the engine let alone that the angles and radi were done correctly. I guess you gotta start somewhere.

It gives nice gains, don't misunderstand.
It just doesn't compare to a "real" port job.

Since you've had both... Would you consider a "real port job" to be a very noticeable improvement? If so, what kind of mod would you consider the difference to be equivalent to?
