Take it or leave it?

Yup, I know we're a standup forum, but we're also primarily a Yamaha forum so I believe my question is valid. If you were offered an (insert year) XL 1200 for free or there about, would you take it regardless of hull condition? I was called by my local Yami dealer, the owner doesn't want anything to do with 2-stroke skis but I'm on the top of her list for when anything 2-stroke related turns up. Be it helping them with 2-stroke questions or tech advice to pass onto customers...or in this situation, a ski deal. The customers are an older couple, they're very interested in a newer ski and they talk as though the hull on the XL has a hole in it making me believe the hull is pigged. But no knowledge on engine or engine condition....yet, I'll likely have to find out in person on that one. Regardless of it being a couch, if you were offered this thing for free or basically free, would you take it without hesitation or keep moving? I haven't had a couch in probably 15 years, first and only one was an appropriately colored yellow lemon sea-screwed xp800...and now you know why it was my first and last lol. I'm not a couch guy at all but have been thinking that for calm days a GP 760 would be all I need/want just to get out and away from the city without living in deerfly country and sweltering heat. For free though...I think I might just have to take this one on. Thoughts?

Lol fair enough. Parting out up here in Canada land isn't as easy peasey as it is for you guys though. Our shipping costs here are insanely stupid making sales deals usually not worth the effort which is probably why we don't see a lot of Canadian for sale threads on here. It also seems that there's not a lot of demand for the 1200 parts? Yay? Nay?

Always yes. If nothing else part it out and make some $.

I did tell my Yami girl that I'd take it and have some arrangements made for it if the owners want to go forward. The one thing that I don't have is storage on my own property. Living in the city where I am is far too limited. I do have some storage allowance at a buddy's place in the sticks though I just don't want to over do it, he already has my sled out there... it's going to be sold this winter though...first and last. sled. ever. Lol

Yes and yes, just got a 1997 GP1200 for free last week. Ate the front piston but just for the stainless bolts, pump, engine shims and etc, free is free whether you sell stuff or not.
Everything else is going in the dumpster.

Lol I know! I know! Lol...some things aren't worth the headaches though. If the hull and engine are beat...still yay? I'm lazy in my old age and don't like wasting time on dismantling and parting out lol

Haaahahahah..I just didn't want to get something everyone would knowingly say you adopted a totally useless carcass lol. I know nothing about couches and couldn't find much of anything about it on gurgle searches lol :D

Hey you can always have a viking funeral for it and piss of Greta at the same time

Hahahahaha! This has been one the most comical threads I have posted I think. I have no regrets! It has benefit for you too Wax, you might be able to cash in on a set of carbs that may have otherwise gone unposted...and...AND, this thread may have just helped with getting the ball rolling on a parts sale. See, sometimes stupid questions yield good results :)

Pretty sure, as the winner of the best post, that I get all the parts.
