I plan on using vacuum infusion 100%. I am getting pretty close to having the front half of the hull done, I think i am going to experiment with a red neck router to help reduce sanding time for the rear half will have no real contouring.

I am confident i can make it happen. I'll watch every youtube video, read every thread, obsess for months. You know the usual. I am sure when that time arrives I'll be asking a million questions..

I am the same way, a visual learner. Before I did my hull mods I watched loads of videos, picked up a few books and did lots of reading. It's definitely a learnable skill if you have the time and patience.

How do you plan on keeping the driveline/chines 100% straight? Any thoughts of using a donor hull trimmed down to nothing but the bed plates through to the pump mount bolts?

No I want to be able to make multiple hulls, Ill probably make a jig using my square nose to set it up.
The front half of the bottom of the hull is close to being finished. i am going to finish up the rear portion once i get a little more meat back there. 20130129_232812.jpg20130129_233002.jpg297101_10150433327102008_631292785_n.jpg

I'm thinking about picking up a little glass cloth to cover my foam model ans to pull molds with. I have some already but its just the stuff you pick up at the auto parts store. I found some for what I presume to be cheap on ebay, just looking for a little input on it. It doesn't really have to be structurally so I am pretty sure this will do.

Thanks in advance for your input guys it is much appreciated!
More pics to come soon I have been making progress but I have managed to lose my cell phone in my shop, and who has a real camera these days?! (cell phone and go pro are all i need!)

The mold should be twice as thick as the part you plan to pull from it.

Edit: I use these guys for my needs. They are a wealth of information there. They are right down the street from me so that is how I started doing business with them. I'm not sure how they do online stuff, but it says they have an online store and they run a pretty big business. http://www.fgci.com/

Video of the quad was cool. Sounded nothing like I expected/ hoped, but +1 for gratuitous GF(?) footage.

If I were you, i'd hit up some of the hull builders on here and ask some generic questions about making a mold. I'm sure they'll give you SOME kind of help. There are also some great videos on youtube about making a mold, including a 6 part series made in the 90's (dudes got a sweet stache') put together by a composites company. Bottom line, I would probably stay away from that thin auto parts store glass man. I made the same mistake early on doing some repairs to one of my first hulls.

Keep it up though!

I don't plan on using this for my mold. I was going to use it to cover my foam, and then cast the mold from that. I have been using the auto parts store stuff hahaha... I work at one so I got a good deal. I have some epoxy resin on its way, now I just need a large amount of cloth and a roller or two! I have already watched the exact series you are speaking of, that guy is a fricken riot! You dang ebay scabs!! I am going to try to finish up the foam on the bottom of the hull today and the pump housing area so when my resin arrives I can get to glassing this pig!!

Wow! That thing is sick! I built mine out of crap I had lying around in the garage and an old sport bike after I did a 50mph face plant (thank god for full faced helmets!!). I am sure it pales in comparison to your machine! You ever make it up to silver lake sand dunes? I know its a long way from TX but its a good time! Looks like you would be well equipped there. The dunes also happen to be on lake Michigan, I have launched my ski in the big drink there a few times!
