Custom/Hybrid Taking a swing at a custom hull.

Wow! That thing is sick! I built mine out of crap I had lying around in the garage and an old sport bike after I did a 50mph face plant (thank god for full faced helmets!!). I am sure it pales in comparison to your machine! You ever make it up to silver lake sand dunes? I know its a long way from TX but its a good time! Looks like you would be well equipped there. The dunes also happen to be on lake Michigan, I have launched my ski in the big drink there a few times!

are you from Michigan?

I am actually getting ready to head back to the shop right now, probably have some pictures late tonight or in the morning depending on how late I'm at it.

Widened superjet pump tunnel! I am getting ready to paint this thing and give it the final go ahead to copy and install into my foamie. I have a few supplies in transit so I'll be able to glass over the foam pretty soon as well.
Well I am going to get back to it!

Just playing the waiting game letting this beast dry. If my package tracking senses are correct I'll be recieving some resin and a roller in the mail today, so I'll probably be back at it casting a copy of this plug tonight after work.

Looks like it is coming along well, keep us posted on your technique for lining up the pump bolt mounts with the motor, i am interested to see how easy/difficult that will be.

I think its great that you are doing this build, this will definitely be a true from scratch custom build!

Not sure I'm following your exact approach here, but wouldn't you have wanted to smooth out the "inside" of the pump cavity and glass that into your bottom deck plug to pull a mold from? Seems like you're gonna have to calculate and compensate for the added thickness to mount your shoe and pump.

Lookin good! Hope to see this in action this year! We are just on the other side of the Michigan puddle , 20 miles north of Milwaukee. Maybe we can all meet up and see this thing rip;)

I took the mold from my super jet, then widened it to my liking. Now i am going to cast a mold of that mold, and glue it into my foam model. That will be what i pull the final mold from. So this piece that I have invested several days into, is simply a stepping stone.

Yes, I invite anyone brave enough to risk their life on this thing to take a rip! I'll definitely need some feed back!

I got the resin from ebay, since I am not working on the actual thing I will ride yet I figured it would be the perfect time to try this stuff out.

I sat and thought about what I would do if I were you and didn't have easy access to foam. I think I would carve one out of clay. Clay is easy to mold, when it is wet you can carve it, when it is dry you can sand it. The big three use it for concept cars, life sized cars made of clay. I do not know what your landscape is like but clay is easily dug out of the ground around here. If not maybe there is some other substance you could carve. Maybe pulp made from old news paper like paper mache. Just some ideas! Don't let a simple thing like the absence of home depot stop you bro! Btw I would die to ride in Tahiti.
