My '99 sxipro just died. I'm doin' the whole engine. I' interrested about buying a new 800SXR since it may be the last model year available (2 strokes ban). Does anybody can talk about the main difference between the 750 and the 800. I mean, the driving style, the weight feeling on the water, the turning, in waves, the freestyle. Should I keep my old 750 or is it a good thing to change... I appreciate the carving of my 750 with the shoulder on the water when I turn hard.

Talk about the 800 versus the 750...

i have an sxr and have a friend who has both. we have both been riding just the sxr lately because they are in my opinion superior riding skis. they are heavier then the previous kawis but as far as handeling goes they rock. keep the 750 . if you are disappointed in the sxr you can easily transplant the motor and electronics. just the other day we had a 4 way drag race with a stock sxr, my sxr with a lightend flywheel, an sxr with an ignition system, and a 750 with a big bore kit. i was able to beat them all off the line but fell back on top end. the sxr is definitly faster than the sxipro. i say buy it.

thr sxi pro is the better freestyle ski ...... the sxr is more stable and carving and steering much better than the sxi pro ... top speed sxr isn't better i think, and if you want the sxr tobe some better in freestyle and handling low speed just d-cut the rideplate i don it and it makes the sxr less nose heavy and more fun at low speed and in surf

try a SXR iff you can and after make the choice the pro is also a lovely ski

Depends on what you want to use them for. I have an 08 SXR and 2 96 SXI's. The SXR is a corner carving machine, a total blast...........for a price! It also gets the absolute worst gas mileage of any Jet SKi I've ever owned in my life! You never wander very far from your gas can. My SXI's are for a diferent use. They don't corner as well because they slip. Slippery can be fun too/180's/360's etc. They also get 3 times the gas mileage as my SXR. That's why I bought a spare when I ran across it. We have some big water around here believe it or not and it isn't uncommon to go 20/30 miles one way then back. SXI's no sweat, 550's one way and half way back, SXR no way and don't even try! The SXI's forti, up the Snake River/Hell's Canyon in the white water. Got to love it! My son just acquired a 98 SXI Pro and a small pin 750( not sure on the year), we will be comparing them this year and see where they all stack up.

I love that quote. People get opinionated about stupid stuff, the above statement is so true.

I dont think there is enough difference to justify the expense of a new sxr. yes there are some differences but not 7 or 8k worth of improvements. you could have 2 750s that are set up nice for less than that new ski and have money left over.

I must completely respectfully 100% disagree with tom.

SXRs SMOKE SXI PROs on the bottom end. Better port timing! They rip wayyyy harder. If you get an SXR, after 2 rides you'll never touch your SXI PRO again.....and they carve even harder! I owned both. I wouldn't even ride an SXIPRO anymore. They are about the same on the top end.....I can't think of one thing an sxipro is better for. The only downside is poor gas mileage, but with all the extra low end power, it is worth it. My sxipro with a pipe, flywheel, head, msd, 9/17 swirl prop had less bottom end than a stock SXR.

I would buy a used SXR with a wetpipe. $3-4000

I have both. They are very different. You have to keep both of them!!!!! The sxi is not going to bring in a lot of money anyway, and it is practically hit bottom on price. Ride both and make up your own mind!

had a sxi pro, liked it, wrecked it, got a 2011 sxr. LOVE IT. I compare them like this- if a sxi is a fiat spider, fun little car to drive, the sxr is a corvette zo6 more power, tighter handling; heavier and bigger but way better.
