Tamper caps/plugs, stock 38's on a SJ.

Tamper plugs, stock 38's on a SJ. How thick are they, I started drilling the first one and they seem very thick indeed. And will a slide hammer pull them if you thread a screw in the hole? :nutkick:

They are maybe 5/8" thick. A pull hammer will work or just drill a hole big enough to get a slotted screw driver through it. I've done it both ways.

Here's a picture of the plugs you're describing so that you can see the thickness.

I skipped pulling them out and just cut them straight off that way the casting was closer to the same height as the screw and easier to get at. Maybe pull the first one to get a good idea of the depth then cut the rest.

How much space between the jet and plug?

Maybe 1/4". I drilled out four of them and only nicked one adjustment screw barely. They are brass so they are super easy to drill through and just slow down when you start to punch through.
