Never go over 65 with the TBM!
70-75 is ok for new crankbolts and stock flywheels.

It would almost seem like the woodruff key wasn't sitting in it's place correctly? I've seen both the old and the new TBM flywheels used on different engines with stock cases and covers with no problems. I'd be questioning weather or not the flywheel is seated properly.
the most famous light flywheel in the market became more light .
listen listen ...send now your tbm flywheel to "steve-uk" with 10 dollars and only in 5 days take back a "new" ballanced more light than ever tbm flywheel ...
lol

I was just about to say that Watty, Steve it may be an idea to put some engineers dye in the flywheel taper then put it on the crank to see if its seating properly.
Chris.
Out of curiosity, what do you torque the MSD TL flywheels to?
I've seen you advise 80 ftlbs in the past.
EDIT: If I remember correctly, ATP calls for 75 on their Flame stuff. What is the difference due to in the different flywheels?
lmao!!!:nutkick:
thinking of smothering the flywheel with ky......
I am wondering that myself after reading SuperTunes post. Last season I had an issue with my TL. On landings my ski would bog out, turned out one pickup wire was contacting the ring gear (burned through the insulation) causing a failure to fire on one cylinder. I am using the supplied MSD grommets. I also noticed this go around my bendix was rubbing the ring gear ever so slightly at idle.
I was thinking the flywheel could be pressed on to deep at the stock torque value.
Good grief Shifty! Don't even consider using that pos MSD grommet! That weird plastic will shrink over time and let water enter ( I saved one for show and tell ). I have used the grommets from junk stators. One wire per hole!Well thats no good. I figured you would use each hole for each wire. So I will need to run each pair of wires through one hole and leave the two up front plugged or sealed off. I wish that would have been in the directions MSD supplied.
Thanks clearing that up.
