TBM Pump Cone

Has anyone used or heard the results of the TBM pump cone.
I just ordered 1 today for my SJ.I hope it is worth the money.295.00 not bad price. It comes with 3 cones.
I will prob be using the short freestyle cone
but lets see if it is comp to a Magnum.

I ran a Magnum in my sxi years ago for freestyle and the diff was awsome.
It was just to heavy....The pump and the ski ...LOL

I am just looking for some feed back if anyone has any thanks

look at the legdrag magnum prop on his site. Its recommended with that pumpcone and is supposed to be the closest damn thing to a magnum without the weight.

12/17 scatt track 82 mm bore and a lamy multiport cyl is this the type of set up you think will work or a smaller prop. I do freestyle I want that bottom end BRAP!

Much of the power delivery depends on the engine porting/compression ratio/pipe combo/how aggressive ignition timing. you have to tune the prop for the ski and your riding technique...

if you have it loaded with a normal prop and then a tbm pump cone it will make your engine work alot harder as there is less compression area

i have a very well ported engine with big carbs and a lot of timing
i am using a 15/19 and i will be repitching that as its to much for the ski
but it all depends on how your ski is ported

remember this
1% pump efficency is worth 10% horsepower

if you can pitch for a tbm cone then you will pick up pump efficency

What about for a freestyle application? Do you even want this setup for freestyle? I was thinking 13/17 Concord with a ported and big-bored 61x cyl.

prop will be to tall
i am using mine in a free style application
but the concord is a tall prop regardless of what the numbers say

get impros to modify it down to a 13-16

Still Fat....
if i am understanding this, the TBM cone in a SJ pump feels like a strain on the motor or sucks more power up?

how would it compare to a Skat pump then?
I have been thinking about it, but $300 into a stock pump, and modding another prop, sorta puts you near skat territory, especially if you need a cone, nozzle, blueprinting etc...

how's the bite of the TBM cone?

with my pump setup i get good hook up, but i am definately at it's limit of bite and slippage for my riding style and my engine setup.

Thanks guys
Wax head it sound like you know your stuff
thanks for the feed back
I cant wait to get this and test it next week.
I do have a few other props to test with it
I will start with my 12/17just to see the diff

No he will not!
I have been running the TBM cone for a few weeks now, that thing ROCKS :woot: It mo def hooks up better than stock, don't know how much better a Magnum is but  the TBM is worth $300 IMO! I did drop down to a smaller pitch, I was using a 13/17 concord, now I'm using a 13/15. For what it's worth, it made my backflip attempts sooooo much closer to coming around

I have one on my SXR and very happy with the results. It really keeps the pump hooked up in the rough. Tim has reccomended pitches for the SXR from stock to full race. Not sure how much testing he has done with the SJ. Give him a call, he might even have a used prop that he can sell you. He really helped me with my set up.

Any more reviews of this pump cone on a SJ? I ordered one to test it out. I am currently running a 13/17 concord and bored nozzle (83.75mm). After running a stubby cone I found the impeller was slipping, put the stock cone back in and seemed fine but I lost some low end punch. I planned on having the impeller cut back and repitched to a 13/16 but may test the set up with the 13/17 first.

We had a more success when using Skat-Trac swirls over the solas with the TBM pump kit

So can the performance gains can be charcterized as agood bang for your buck mod or is the performance only marginal?
