TBM vs MSD

is it worth the hassle/money to run a msd t/l system, or is a TBM w/enhancer setup comparable? $700 VS $1100 i might be "beating a dead horse here but who care the site has been dead lately so...tell me what your experience has been with different setups
my main question is will the tbm w/enhancer be close in power compared to a msd T/L setup
my motor is as follows;
82mm
lpw freestyle port
new hot rod crank (they are cheep)
makuni 44's
bcw intake
85mm reduction nozzle
ada girdled head 31cc and 33cc domes i will use the 33 most of the time
boysen power reeds
10-16 7mm set back hooker
b-pipe w/limited chamber
i have a stock lightened wheel now and a new enhancer but i think i will be happier with a tbm or rad wheel:ugh:

Total loss is all I am going to be running on any ski I own, unless it's a damn near stock ski, and then I'd just leave the stock elecs. Just my .02

i havent ridden a total loss system but it seems like everyone who has one swears by it.

i shy away from it because i ride far distances and its all salt water.
id be pissed if i had an electrical short or dead battery 5 miles from the ramp out in the surf.

i am running a tbm flywheel. i added it with lightweight couplers at the same time.

i noticed a marginal difference. im hoping when i do an msd enhancer it will wake it up a bit.

personally(this is my opinion so take it for what its worth) i probably couldnt tell the difference between a boat setup with a lightened stock wheel and a 2 lb. tbm wheel.

i do believe that all the little performance add-ons add up to the big picture though.

sorry if im no help :slap:

The real advantage of the MSD Total Loss comes from it's programmability - something you don't get with an Enhancer. This allows you to run higher compression safely than you would on a stock or Enhancer ignition curve.
Porting and ignition can work together to give you a power advantage that's more than just the sum of the individual advantages.

as matt said its the programing you get from t/l that is a massive advantage
but i would say that advent/vilder with tbm would be real close
i run tbm with stock electrics and it was a huge improvement over the stock flywheel

i was running wax inferno with 32 deg of initial advance and the thing ripped of the bottom but i couldnt run it with my tbm

NO
TBM/Enhancer: This will give you smooth power delivery and good for surf and mild hit for learning. Much better than a stock or lightened stock flywheel.
Not as high compression friendly as T/L or programmable timing units
MSD/TL: A must for very high compression ratio's, very aggressive hit from advanced timing and retards timing for preventing detonation at high RPM's. Very good for flatwater riding and more advanced riders. Allows higher compression ratio's for pump gas also.
Not as saltwater friendly, this can be solved with setup and some tricks.
A very good hood and dry engine bay help very much.
