I use a punch with a blunted tip and no chemicals. gently push it in from the back, then lift up the edges from the front.

i just lay disc on, put rubber at angle so 1 edge is leading thru the hole, use a "micro" flat-head screw driver to push the other edge down into hole and done.. no mar, and done in about 15 seconds.... It does take some practice if you haven't done it before... i have a blunt tool but still sometimes it goes thru it..

I do the same thing, although I usually lick the rubber for just a bit of lubrication (make your jokes). In the hundreds (maybe 50's) I've installed, I've found that pulling the edges through from the other side is the key.

I bought the tool. I lube it with a little wd40,insert the tool, and it works absolutely perfectly. Never punctures through. Totally worth the 10$.
