And honestly, my SXIPro which only had a prop, grate, and plate seemd to have more get up and go than this beast.
It could be this particular ski though..
Yep, it was that SXR. No SXIPRO should even come CLOSE to a stock SXR unless it was a big bore. My SXIPRO had a head, flywheel, pipe, prop, and MSD ignition and a stock SXR chewed it up...that's why I ditched it.

I rode my first SXR last week. It's an '06 with no hull mods or engine mods. I must say that besides how well you can lay it down in the corners, I was way less than impressed. Being 'built for racing' and seeing how it is an 800, I thought it would be a rocket in comparison to my Yami. Well, my SJ with all the basic freestyle mods destroys this thing down low, mid range, and even top end. WTF? Maybe this one is just a dog? Could someone tell me if a stock SXR should be slower than an SJ with a B-Pipe, head and MSD?
Also trying to ride this thing in a straight line was incredibly squirrely. It literally felt like I was riding on marbles. My SXIPro would do that occasionally, but this thing was nuts. Cornering was awesome though.
Can I get some honest input? Thanks
talking about squirrely going straight... have you try a 08 and up SJ? they are the worst. but they corner excellent like a SXR. To me they are almost like a snowboard.. need to be on edge and turning on all time.
My foam was like 20 lbs of water log, nothing light about an sxr just well built thick hull
09 with tbm charging flywheel, factory wet pipe, (heap pipe screws top-1 turn, middle closed, bottom 1/8.) tbm intake grate and r@d afterburner pump stuffer. carbs are dialed in--jetted properly n/s switched out to 2.0, water box is drilled, i want a new impeller just haven't figured out which one yet. this ski comes out of the hole like a rocket, she has good power every where, stays hooked, corners very well and handles chop. she is heavy and sucks the fuel down.
09 superjet all stock, d-cut stock ride plate THRUST LIGHT WEIGHT HOOD kit and rrp hand pole and duel bilge pumps. it's a blast to ride, jumping from the pig to the sj, i can ollie 3feet, or just flick it around. squirrelly up top due to the d-cut plate and i think the sxr is more forgiving because of the weight. i was shocked at the low end power the 701cc has. i have to steer more to adjust on the sj as the sxr body position is key or footing in the tray.
