Test pond size.

I was cutting grass today and said this would be a nice spot for a pond... I have room for roughly a 50 x 75 or 80 foot pond. Would that be enough room to practice on? Im ready to get Josh's backhoe up here and start digging.

Idk if thats big enough, but my test pond is a little over 3 acres and has a 150 foot concrete boat ramp :). I use it to test couches that i work on.

Thats bigger than most competitive swimming pools( 25 yards by 8 lanes), which i think are easily big enough for freestyle. I would do it, plus less grass to mow!

I'd make it work! Small, but should get it done. I'd be stoked. Maybe double up on pond liner material if it won't hold water too well.

A liner that big is almost 3 grand... or truck loads of clay. It could be expensive. Here I thought we dug a hole and it would fill like magic. I still want to do it. Now to figure out how to make it happen. Josh and I looked it over this afternoon and his backhoe will take a long long time to dig it.

I did tons of research when I dredged my pond 125x175. Mine is fully aerated and a usda type 1 fish farm, where I raise blue gills and perch. Check out http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php
Way too much info on the forum, it will help you understand what construction of a pond actually entails.

Thanks for that link. My pond is about 60x100 and stream fed. I thought I could made a ramp on 1 side to make it a tuning tank but haven't. I used it to swim in and just yesterday my kids and i had a remote control jetski in it.
