The BEST cold weather mod

Uh yeah...you gotz to be reaaaal careful doing that mod (or just not stupid!).

Running it throught the bars like Hangtime suggests (it's great, I agree) results in significantly less flow through that line than a straight pisser outlet.
So - if that's your only pisser, you're backing up coolant flow through the engine, making it run quite a bit hotter than normal.
I know from experience - that's how I blew my engine at the end of last season.
If you do this mod (through the bars), make sure you have at least one other unrestricted water bypass.

suppose it would work if you removed the end plugs from the grips, water woudl just flow right out...dont know if the bars would get hot enough though.....

footwarmers... I ran a 2nd fuel reserve switch to my ski to turn em on and off.
Either the water goes out the regular spitter or on my feet while they are in the footholds.

ps... they work great. Even at high speeds.

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
I have 3 pissers and only use 1 for the handwarmers and I also have a valve to adjust the flow but since the water is 35 degrees when we ride it's always all the way open .

On the weak handle bars thing .I don't do BF's or BR's and the hole drilled in the middle of the bars is 3/8 .How are the bars gonna bend in the middle of the 2 clamps .
I've done this on 3 boats so far .SJ ,GP1200 and a 3 seater all with the same kick ass results .I'm about to add this mod to my Blaster as well :cool2:

And in 35 degree water it's dam near impossible to overheat your motor but is possible to cold seize it with too much water .I run dual cooling on both my boats .with slutty's cooling diagram

Shiat ,Pete runs no pissers and all the water out his handlebars and his X2 runs mint all winter .
you FL guys with hand warmers are wimps .SUCK IT UP

Do it getto if you want Lake I don't give a shiat .

Let me rephrase....if your only cooling outlet out of the motor is six tiny holes in the handle bars, your motor will seize, 32 degree water or not.

I'm gonna tap another line off my pisser line up to my handlebars this winter.

But the best mod for keeping hands warm in 32 degree water? Rubber dish gloves. I used to sail in the winter and had to have warm hands to tie knots and such. We were also made to capsize and jump in the water at least once a day so we'd be used to it. I tried thick gloves, the 50 dollar sailing waterproof mittens, they all sucked. Then I got two pairs of rubber dish gloves, and put them both on, two on each hand, and topped it with a pair of gill gloves without the pointer and thumb (for tying knots). It kept my hands much warmer then anything else (as rubber is so impermeable to everything) and still allowed me to grip and tie knots. Once a little water gets in them from swimming, it warms up to your temp.

As for the rest of my body, I wore a shorti wetsuit (for manuverability), gill boots, overal foul weather gear that seals at the ankles, and a foul weather gear top that seals at the waste over the overalls, and on the wrists and neck. I could go swimming in the water without getting cold.

Bringing this back to ask a question. If I "T" the black hose coming from the head to the exhaust will that work or is that not going to cool the exhaust enough?

Geek uses the 'ghetto' version up here in warm Michigan. It works fine.

I've already bent two sets of UMI bars, and now a set of Xmetal bars in a season and a half (large bends - seven or more degrees). So i wont be drilling any holes in the bars..but if I hadnt trashed so many bars already- I would go that route

My hose is only 7/16" so the hole isnt gonna be nearly as big as the 'surgical' hose everyone else is using. I just want to know if that hose is going to work :dunno:

I've done the hot water up the pole for years. Tapped a set of bars once and drilled the holes in the grips, but it is tough to keep the grips from twisting. A pain in the ass and not worth the hassle.

Now I just run it up the pole, T it off at the bars, and that's it. No tubes on the T going out to your hands. You get enough indirect spray to stay warm and the boys stay nice and toasty from the spray that hits you below the belt. That's for surf riding in Oregon. It can get chilly on the winter river rides (more speed, less water to the hands) but we don't do that very often anyway...

the absolute best way to run a warmer would be if you could CONVIENIENTLY run a hose to the back of your wetsuit between your shoulder bloades...

by doing this you get close to direct warming of the heart, which in turn warms the blood to all extremities....
