Just like Brett I am going to re do the square.

I just bought a B pipe so it is a good start to make this ski a surf worthy backup boat.

Here is a thread of what I have done to the boat already.

http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/14227&page=2

Here is a list of what I plan on doing, slowly but surely.

- Install B pipe with limited chamber done but installing a mod chamber

- Relocate one of the breather tubes on the square hood so that it wont hit the OEM dual 38 flame arrestor. Maybe re do the hood liner if I feel up to it. done

-Fix the front hood seal area. I'm just gonna take some weather stripping and connect it do the hood so that it makes a better seal. done

-Install a lowered bracket once one comes around at a decent price

-Quick steer modify the turn nozzle done

-Add quick steering, not sure of brand, but will most likely wait for Carl (Cold Fusion) to finish his latest steering setup done

-Add a set of tubbie I's done

-Either find a stock ride plate and D cut it, or just D cut the Protec Ride plate that is on there now done

-Returf the ski and install some footstraps. I have a roll of B stock, just need some under padding.

-Bore out the reduction nozzle

-Find a prop that will compliment the setup... Right now it has a stock blaster prop

-Find a sticker to cover the patch job on the side of the ski. haha. done

-This summer try to re enforce the ski.

Traded my limited chamber for a MOD chamber...

I have a question...

Should I fill the cross over on my stock dual 38 intake manifold while I'm at it??? If so, what should I use to fill it with? Can each side be blocked off rather than filler the whole crossover?

the easiest thing to use is QuikSteel from advance or someplace. 5.49 a tube. Kinda looks like a little debbie cake roll. You mash it with your hands and just shove it in. It seems like its not going to stick for the first 1-2 minutes as it will just pull back out with your fingers but keep mashing it in and I garuntee it wont come out.

i love that stuff

Sorry for going Off-topic, but how does the engine react on filling the crossover? Ofcouse there will be better flow in the manifold, but do you notice any difference when you ride it?

Blocked crossover allows for stronger signal to both carbs, when you fill it, your going to have to drop your pilot jet up to 10-15. Its pretty neat. Perhaps even your main jet 2.5-5 as well...

Got the engine out and stock exhuast removed.

Tonight Carl helped me tap the pump, stock cylinder head, and b pipe exhaust manifold for dual cooling. He hooked me up with a stainless tube to run through the firewall also.

Found the midshaft housing needs replacment.

Done some stuff...

Added a second cooling line.

Pump alignment was a biatch. Something has warped over the years (most likely the hull where the pump mounts) and won't allow the drive shaft to side center (horizontal alignment) in the hole. Normally all you have to do is to align the pump vertically. But on this one I had to remove the dowel pins on the wear ring section and twist the pump to get the shaft to sit centered in the hole in the firewall. Still not 100% perfect, but I was tired of messing with it. Its like 97%.

I am using a wear ring from a sit down, so the four long pump bolts that hold the whole thing together don't work. So I took WaveDemon's advice and used 8 short bolts after taping two section of the pump. Re used some engine mount to hull bolts. They were perfect lengths.

Replaced all my B pipe head pipe screws. Ex manifold is installed. Cleaned all my battery terminal connections.

Installed a new shortened steering plate system. Modified the turn nozzle for extra steering throw.

Waiting for next week to lay up a set of tubbies, install and the fill in and paint the bottom of the ski. Found a nice chuck missing out of one of the chimes so I'll fill that in while I'm at it.

Need to grind one of the ribs for B pipe clearance. Need to grind the front ex side engine plate for b pipe clearance.

Then I'll throw her all back together.

We have a lake trip planned for April which will be when Carl (DangerBoy) helps me tune ski. Haha.

got my new midshaft from dirtybird. thank you!

to alleviate the gap between the front of the hood and the hood seal i built a little deal that extends down in front of the hood. totally ghetto but it works. the front hood seal lip has drooped over the years and would let a ton of water in. after taking these pics i sealed it all up with some bostik

re located the rear hood vent tube. in its original location it would hit the top of the dual 38 oem FA. need to seal the old hole i think ill just take one of those yellow plastic squee-gee's and bostik it over the hole.

padding under water box to lift b pipe chamber

installed a cold fusion steering system with a little bracket to increase steering throw.

still not sure on the hood tubes... i think they'll fit, but we'll see once I get it all put together...

been working on it ever night this week. installed tubbies monday night... blended one side with epoxy filler on tuesday, sanded that side and blended other side wednesday, sanded thursday and spot filled all other spots... Tonight I'll do a final sanding, and the tomorrow will paint the bottom sides of the ski.

The hopefully sunday and monday re assemble, so that it will be ready for next weekend's camping trip.
