by the way, it took me between 3h30-4h from sleeves removal to finished cylinder (well almost). not bad for a first timer i guess :)

Damn dude you’re workin' fast!

It looks like you're building a Frankenstein motor with those 61x cases, did you ever think about running some 62T cases?

Great work BTW. :fing02:

Be sure to widen the transfers in the casting to match the sleeve, but do not raise them. Also, keep the roof angle in the casting intact, while keeping the sideways angle in the casting and sleeve matched up (should all be pointing toward the boost port)

What sleeves are those, where'd you get them, and how much were they?

I think im going to be doing the same thing. So it really wasnt that bad? Im going to have to pay to have my cylinders bored to fit the sleeves which kind of sucks. I could have done it for free at school since im an engineering student but its summer time. Whats a reasonable price to have my cylinders bored to accept those? about the same price as to bore for oversized pistons?

is the port timing on these sleeves the same as a standard 61x or are they raised
good stuff keep those pics coming
These sleeves are 40mm from the top exhaust port to the cylinder surface which is the same for the 61x. The transfer ports are 58mm from the top and 74mm at the bottom so they can be used with flat top pistons. The stock 61x sleeves have transfer ports that are 54mm from the top and 68mm from the bottom. If these cylinders are to be used in an OEM dome style piston engine, the deck surface will only require light machining to match the sleeve tops to the deck surface. All transfers will need to be raised approx. 2.5mm (varies due to your desired port timing) and a 1mm base gasket spacer plate needs to be installed.

Also they can be finished for use as a set of "flat top" cylinders because a flat top wiseco pistons are shorter than OEM pistons preparation for each will be as follows: for use in a flat top piston engine this cylinder will require machining approx. 2.5mm off the top cylinder deck and minor top edge port work to get the port timing where you want.

ahhh i didnt think it was necessary to space the cylinder base with a thicker gasket!!! it is really needed with domed pistons? since its only the transfer port that need lifting, why lift all the assembly? does the 760 pistons are a bit higher than 701? i thougth it was almost a bolt-in mod after resleeving and porting... whats the other "things" that i should know?!?

Oh, And how do you like those NW sleeves im thinking about getting the same ones. Are you happy with how they look for porting? I know they come preported.

well it looks a lot wider than stock. im kinda new to all this porting thing, i think i will only match existing port and raise the transfer ports 2.5mm just like #.0 said

i must admit, porting isnt my thing... its more a mtching job than porting... the exhaust port is so wide its crazy. almost 3/16" to remove on each side. i just hope it will perform great cause im no porting expert!! ive tried to match the transfer port in the midle but it was hard to reach and i was afraid to notch the sleeve with the die grinder. i did my best to widen it but it still a bit rough.

those sleeves came from NW Sleeves. i took the bigbore pre-ported sleeve. 119$ each. customs raped me so bad with more than 80$ of taxes for 2... :banghead:

Those look like different sleeves then the ones I've seen with the same part number from Northwest. Can you tell me what the exhaust port height and transfer port height is, measured from the top of the cylinders edge?

The stock Yamaha 61x cylinder has a below-deck exhaust port height of 39.6mm and all the transfers are the same height - 55.4mm.

Looks liek you are doing a great job!

If you ever want to get into the parts making business, PM me. I have atleats 20 ideas or copies of parts for a Kawasaki X2 that I know everyone would snap up.

ive compared both stock sleeve and NW ones when ive received them and the port timming were almost identical, +/- 0.02" lol  everything was wider tho
