The Nascency Project - Daytona Freeride Pictures

Daytona pics

OK Nasceny here goes. First I find it fitting that you guys sign your name at the bottom of each photo like an artist does on a painting. I guess as much time as you spend brushing up your photos it feels right to put your name at the bottom. Second every time I take photos the ones that dont come out good I simply push the delete button and dont try to re-create them or resurrect them to something better. I work hard to get good shots by getting high above the surf in the towers, or way down the beach for side views. I have hundreds upon hundreds of awesome shots and not one of them has a single brush stroke on it from the touch up shop. They look natural with the sea and surf in its natural state. You guys should spend more time trying to get good shots and less time in the DNA splicing programs. Well you wanted to hear it so here it is.

Oh boy, lets dance, shall we?

(And I'll go point by point in order that you posted to not confuse you)

First, signing our name to each picture...yes we do...its called a watermark. Every institution out there thats worth half a bag of poop does this...why? Because ultimately we want people to know who took the picture as it draws more people to our website and ultimately more business for the company...which is what professionals do to earn a living...Ronny does the same thing, Ludo from FullGaz, Mike from Azhiaziam...should I continue?

Second, all this brush stroke stuff you keep going on about...two things here. Yes, we change some of the pics color content, etc. Why? well, first is because you can only look at a backflip or roll so many times before you need to do something to stimulate yourself...try new things, experiment. Also, show me a professional (not some fly by night moon lighting amateur) who does not have some sort of touch up with their work...we have worked for and with more photographers than most and ALL of them did clean up to their shots...most would not even show them without clean up...

If your shots are so good and you don't need all that fancy computer mumbo jumbo then why do you shoot digital? Why not film? I mean, you would not rack up all that extra expense that we, as your underlings, would because you are that damn good right?

Now that being said...maybe if you went out and invested as much in time and equipment as we have to get to where we are today, you would wind up with some of that DNA splicing (oh sorry, depth of field) in your pics as well...

Rhonda does not post here for this very reason...someone always comes out of the woodwork with some hate...its so lame...

Bill, you have no idea what it takes to be a real photographer...but in all of this my original question still has not been answered...you have given us a hard time since the word "boo" for no good reason...why?

Oh, and its spelled nascenCy...put your reading glasses on old man...

Just plain me....
Not to start crap, but I stand behind you 100%, Chris. The very first time I got the non-pleasure of having any interaction with Bill, he felt it necessary to let me know how inferior I was for shooting with film.

Great pics Chris and crew. :notworthy: I don't care if they were doctored, genetically restructured or run through a coffee grinder. I don't get the drama thing, somebody always has to rain on the parade. I guess they get a kick out of it. :loser:

Yea...And I learned the hard way by posting the "old school world final" pix from the 80's without a watermark. And now they are all over the place.

BTW, they are all on 35mm,(that's film) NO retouching.

But in the end I hope a few people enjoyed them without trying to $$ on them.

Chris...Ronny....Keep up the AWESOME work!

Wow--my first post in about 2 years...

Bill, I am sorry you take offense to my style of picture taking. I think that all photography is an art--everyone has different styles--that's what keeps it interesting. If you, Ronny, Ludo, me, and everyone else all took the exact same style picture then what would be the point of posting them for everyone to see...once you have seen one--you've seen them all. My pictures ARE my art--and I take pride in that. I will not apologize for them.

I do not use brushes on my pictures. I sharpen them a little if needed and adjust the contrast if it was an overcast day. Some may get made black and white to give it a little different flavor--but that's my choice of how I want to portray the picture.

The blur in the background is called "bokeh". Bokeh (derived from Japanese, a noun boke 暈け, meaning "blurred or fuzzy") is a photographic term referring to the appearance of out-of-focus areas in an image produced by a camera lens using a shallow depth of field.[1] Different lens bokeh produces different aesthetic qualities in out-of-focus backgrounds, which are often used to reduce distractions and emphasize the primary subject. My lens gives me the ability to do this---NOT PHOTOSHOP!!!

I do not use the automatic settings on my camera--I shoot on the TV or manual setting, as does Ronny and most other action sports photographers I know.

I realize that I am still not the greatest photographer in the world. I still have a lot to learn...any photographer that says they know everything is lying--there is always something new to learn. I do however always give it my best when I am shooting these guys at events. My goal is only to provide exposure for the sport. This being said--yes, I do watermark all my pictures with our website. We own a company which makes jetski and sporbike movies--any exposure I can provide to get people to check out our site helps us as well as the riders in the videos.

Once again, sorry you don't like my style...I have plenty of people who do appreciate my work and frankly, I don't consider this a popularity contest..I do it for myself, my company, and my friends. Just don't look at them in the future if they offend your senses so much.

Thanks

Rhonda Burgess

Some people just never 'get it'.

We are losing more professional people on this site every day because someone feels the need to bash them or talk crap.

We are VERY LUCKY in this sport that we get to talk, ride and chat on the internet with the pro riders, builders, ride organizers, photographers, videographers etc...

Try that in Motocross, or Snow Skiing, or any other sport. It doesn't happen. You can't show up in Daytona and ride or skate with Jeremy McGrath or Tony Hawk. There is no website where you can talk to pro riders from other sports. We have lost alot of good people here on the "X" allready because people want to be tough behind their keyboards. It sucks, but the good thing we have going is going to die because of 1% of the people on here. I know that after the Rock N Ride, I had 100 posts saying how much fun people had and 1 person saying I was a dishonest lying cheater. Luckily being a teacher, I am used to hearing that I am an as$hole so it doesn't bother me. I know of a couple engine builders, a freestyle builder, to ride organizers, and at least a dozen riders that won't come on here because they don't want to deal with the baby internet games. It is a huge loss for the rest of us who 'get it'.

The negativity just makes the pros turn off their computer and keep to themselves....they have sponsors to represent and don't want to come on here and get into a pissing match with somebody who doesn't get why we are here.

Like your momma said, if you don't have anything nice to say..........................
or if you wouldn't go right up and say something to someones face, don't say it on here.

BTW, Chris and Rhonda, great pics. Glad to see you guys on here and I hope you don't let 1 person ruin it for the hundreds of others who support what you do.

There is plenty of room on here for everybody's pics, vids, skis, motors, riding...etc. No need to bash anyone, just promote and give praise to who you like.

Exactly...I did not go after Bill until I felt he had insulted/ slighted us, whatever...

There is room for everyone, and their pics and vids and skis...no need to hate...

The power of anonymity of Internet forums brings out the worst in people.

Any ignorant jackass can hide behind a keyboard and spout crap without fear of retribution.
No one anonymous screen name has any more authority than the next.
Everybody is an expert and isn't afraid to let everyone know. This is unfortunate, because unless you know who's who on here, you're likely to listen to the wrong advice from the so-called "experts".
And in the end, that's double unfortunate, because those that truly know their stuff get forced out by the jackasses. Those with the loudest mouths will be the only ones remaining, patting themselves on their smug backs.

Before you post, ask yourself a very simple question: Would you say it to the person's face, in front of the audience assembled here, in person?

I didn't think so.

this is 1000000% true.

you can't just show up to a bball court and start balling with kobe or lebron, but you can show up to daytona, ride with pierre, ross c, taylor curtis, miker serlin, malone, bogart, pete, ..etc.. all day, and then hang out in a laundry room with them and wammer at night and play beer pong with 30 other people.

that is frickin awesome!

chris, rhonda, you two are awesome for everything you do for us. time, travel, work, videos, equipment, etc. youre the real deal. dont let it get to you. bill's a good guy but i guess he just has old-timer's sometimes.

bill, STFU! chris and rhonda are awesome! i still love you too.
