Super Jet The Superjet Market?

Right now I ride a 93 750SX, it's my first stand up. Previously I had a 98 Kawasaki XI. I really like my 750SX, I have no complaints but then again I have never rode another stand up. From what everyone says the superjet is the way to go. Where I ride, I can be riding surf, heading through choppy water, flying through a marsh and then jumping boat wakes all with a full tank of gas. So point is I always have a mix up of riding. I dig what people are doing with the superjets and they seem to be engineered much tighter when I rode my friend's waveblaster. The amount of bottom end it carries really launches you on small wakes/surf. I think a modded superjet is in my future, packed with tubbies, shortened pole, footholds and a factory b pipe would be ideal. I am mechanically inclined and do carry composite experience so modding one myself would be no big deal. So on to my real question..

I am in no hurry to buy a superjet, my 750SX rides fine. The "superjet market" is strange in that mods and high demand they fly hours after they hit craigslist. Am I better to wait until off season to pick one up? Or yall think its not going to matter? I have a harley sportster I can sell quick and have $5000 ready to fire when I see a deal that catches my eye. Just trying to make the decision if being patient is going to be key here, I seen a couple good deals but I think there may be more waiting off season.

Lately they seem to have been in hot demand no matter the season. I waited for three months last year (off season) to find one that was even remotely close to me and well priced (and I live in the southeast so it's not like it's the north pole where no one rides). A friend of mine just picked on up and he had to wait quite some time too.

Honestly I'd just sit tight until you find the 'right' deal - in my experience the deals weren't any better in the winter than the summer.

you just gotta be ready for when they pop up...lots of browsing cl (alert apps on phone work well) and have cash in hand...still can take awhile

Yep, have cash in hand while you're looking and if you find one locally bring the money when you go check it out, I've been able to snag good deals up from under other people just because they had to wait for the bank to open, ETC.

If it doesn't matter with the off season then I guess i'll sell my harley. Just put all the original parts on it today. Maybe ill buy one during season if it doesn't matter about off season. I figured up north alot of people get cold sickness and sell off their toys. Why do you guys think the superjet is a hot item lately? From what I hear its only recently they been getting eaten up. Maybe more people are getting interested in riding stand ups again.

The stand up market has really taken off at my local lake in the last few years...enough to inspire me to get mine to run again. Nice thing about my lake is it is all Kawis with a few octanes and one complete terd of a Superjet

Just make sure you know what you're getting into.. It's seems lately I've seen many ski's that are "built up" (hacked together more like it) that are not solid skis going (at least listing) for solid ski prices.

Just b/c it has a long parts list doesn't always make it a good buy... limited ex. being it has a footholds, bpipe, & head so it's worth $4-5k. Not really in every case.

That statement isn't really targeted at skis listed here (or is it? :eek:uttahere:). Rather ebay, cl, etc, but should be used as a general rule of thumb.

I think intrest has picked up, but maybe thats because we have an ever increasing group of friends that are riding.

A guy posted up a RN locally on CL and it sold in hours. I raced to get there, cash in hand and a couple guys beat me by 10-20min. They were about to load it up. Thats how it goes.

I'll likely be in the market for a SJ in the spring for my wife, i'm not looking foward to trying to find one.

That's about how my purchase went (except I was the winner, lol). I think I called within 10 mins of seeing it pop up on the forum, begged the guy to hold it until I could get down there the next day (6 hr trip). He about backed out on me, sent me a text at 11pm saying he changed his mind (who does that?) but eventually relented and let me have it :) Mine came with its fair share of issues that were not disclosed, but I still got a good deal and haven't seen one as cheap since (2003 SJ for $2600).
