the trivial complaints thread

I manage the maintence of a golf course. Daylight savings absolutely matters. A simple Google search will show its for the farmers. Making the morning/day start earlier, ie; light. Is definitely beneficial to alot of industry. If you can't see if. Maybe wake up earlier.

Time in the morning. Is MUCH more valuable than time at night. To a HUGE portion of the population.

Don't worry though. The majority of people view the world from their own personal bubble of opinion. You fit the mold well

Imagine if I couldn't send my Mowers out till 9am. But the golfers wanna start at 7am. Like they do. All year. No one cares about your cush office job dude. Daylight savings is for men in the field who need light to do man shiat. Outside. Where they need light. Not at 945am

Farmers work in the dark, I've seen them do it, I don't think the cows or the crops care what the clock says. , I'm pretty sure construction workers don't particularly care what the clock says either.

If golfers don't get there T times well gee whiz that would just be devastating. I have mowed grass in the dark, I know it can be done. Do the golfers golf in the dark?

I don't care which schedule it is, the daylight savings time schedule or the non daylight savings time schedule, but changing back and forth is just stupid. Pick one and go with it.
This, exactly. If people want or need more or less daylight in their workday, that’s entirely understandable, but they can afjust their workday accordingly, rather than creating universal one hour nonlinearities in the measurement of time passage. That is the part that’s stupid. Taking the timeshift thing further, If that’s going to be the solution, wouldn’t it make far more sense to do the shift 4 times per year instead of 2? Or 8 times? Or even daily?!! I mean, why not just say sunrise defines 6AM and be done with it? Time zones can go away, and every physical location can have its own definition of ”6AM” based on local sunrise!

OR… we just measure time in a consistent way, and when and where it’s necessary to chase daylight, those affected can do so. There are FAR more people working indoors than out, and no, manliness has nothing to do with being an outdoor laborer. Even if it did, that doesn’t mean measuring time should be coupled to something so askew.

The problem is that people who want to chase daylight think the rest of us think they shouldn’t. That’s silly. Adjust your life around daylight all you want!! But don’t do it by creating nationwide nonlinear blips in time measurement.

The whole thing is wierd to me because living in a northern latitude we spend large amounts of the year with lots of darkness so it really makes no difference.

I guess this has much more affect on the people who live in a place that has daylight anywhere near a reasonable morning hour and need time in the morning more than time at night, and live in their own bubble of opinion.

Tell me you had a cush Job In a office without telling me.

Lol. I was a traveling millwright for 5 years. They loved daylight savings. Why would we wanna wait another hour to start a job????? It's ANY WORK THAT NEEDS EARLY DAYLIGHT

Osha totally down with guys roofing in the dark. Or drilling. Or framing. Yeah. Let's set up a shiat ton of lights for 1 hr. Instead on the cycle that has helped for DECADES. It's only become a thing to bash it. Because the trend of labor. But PLENTY of the industry still benefits from daylight savings. If you don't understand. You never will. Your employment/occupation has blinded you to the needs of the rest.

Tell me. How does it getting dark or earlier, hurt your job?

That's cool. Some people live where people farm in the dark. They do too here. Lol. Cali farms more than any state. Right where I live. And the farmers LOVE DAYLIGHT SAVINGS. Ask any of them

You could just wake up earlier. Most construction jobs are 7-3:30. Not having daylight until 9am in the norther states would blow. I am willing to fight anyone to the death on this topic
How would waking up earlier help? My complaint was that it was dark when I got to work and dark when I left, but staying on DST would give most people some light when they leave work. Where I live it's dark at 4:30. 5:30 would make it better for so many. It doesn't matter to me anymore. I'm a firefighter on a 24 hour shift now.

I am sitting at a traffic light in Montgomery yesterday , I am in the left turn lane behind two other cars , this cat in a minivan pulls past us on the wrong side of the road across a double line at the traffic light, light turns green and he takes off , damn good thing no one was coming down the road Turning left or we would have seen on hell of a wreck, the sheer amount of idiots on the road that have no idea how to drive never fails to amuse me.

USPS has 6.5 billion in losses for 2023

In 1913 when personal income tax was first initiated , Government spending was 8.1% of the GDP , deficient was $0.00.

In 2023 where we are now taxed to death , Government spending is now 23.7% of the GDP , the deficient is now at 2 trillion dollars.

Hmmm I wonder what the problem is ? Feel free to check my numbers , the info is readily available.

Ronald Reagen probably stated it best : 'Government is not the solution to the problem: government is the problem', Inaugural Address - 1981

Got my azz chewed out today from one of the IT guys because I deleted 5000+ emails out of a folder in my outlook today. There were 2700 or so in the morning that I deleted and then another 3301 showed up shortly after noon so I purged them as well.

The folder is for automated alert notifications associated with a system that I have nothing to do with. I scan through, see it’s nothing I need to act on and then delete them like any other spam.

Turns out, it’s a shared folder that a group of us can see and I’ve been deleting them all for months. Now, I’ve been using corporate email for 28+ yrs and I have never seen a shared folder once. Typically email alerts are sent to a mailing list and we all get our own copy we can do whatever we wish, so how was I supposed to know that I’m deleting them for everyone????

I lost my chit when he sent me this message.

He's an IT guy, so he more than likely suffers from ESB, which is known to cause anger issues.

Yeh. All you guys work in a office. It's very apparent. That sucks. But I guess so does daylight savings for you. Along with all those back problems and overweight Ness from being in a chair 40 percent of our life. Lmfao

Sorry, I do controls and automation, currently in sawmills but I’ve worked in aerospace, gold mining and the oil fields. But I need email to do business.
