So a few weeks ago my jetta started over heating. Seemed like it was a thermostat, but after replacing that it appears that my water pump is probably shot. Well in Germany it's a good idea to run the water pump off the timing belt and stuff 500 components on top of the timing belt cover, including a motor mount... Unwilling to get into that clusterduck right now, I parked the jetta and I've been driving my 94 Chevy 1500.
Two days ago I'm heading in to work and it starts overheating. Great. Find out that the water pump has developed a leak. Just my luck. Two vehicles, two shot water pumps. Luckily GM decided that it would be smart to stick the water pump in plain view and run it with the accessory belt. Thank god they didn't hire any German engineers to design their cooling system. $30 later at the parts store I have a new pump. I get the old one out and compare it to the new one, not the same pump. FML. The truck is in pieces and the jetta is basically undriveable. Now I get to put the bad water pump back on the truck, get the correct one, and then take it all apart again.
I should be at the lake right now tuning carbs, not dicking around with vehicles.
