The TRUTH about SJ drypipes

B-Pipe is better than dry pipe for freestyle. Most will agree... both are much better than stock- prob why there are threads like this that talk good about both. If someone shows me numbers that say a dry pipe is better than the b-pipe then I will believe them... until then I will stick with what the engine builders tell me.

Maybe some of it is ease of installation/removal and reliability, but most of all I think the b-pipe would beat the dry in performance on the low/mid range (right where the freestyle/freeride guys want it)... talk to someone from xmetal, lpw, xscream, etc... they will most likely tell you the same thing.

Those guys have put together 1000s of setups over the years... they should know what works.

I have a speedwerx dry and love the power it produces. Not even considering changing to a B pipe as of now. The speedwerx pipe seems to go in and out easier than the Factory and I can't comment on the Riva (never had/seen one). I have had it just for last season, and didn't have any problems with a blown coupler. I also was able to reuse it, when I removed the pipe, for the rest of the season.

One thing I would add, run strainers on your water inlets to keep sand out of your dry pipe. I ran into that issue early on. Over all, I am very please in the Speedwerx Dry.

anyone have any info on the type 8? thanks

It is not a freestyle pipe at all. We used to call that pipe the "butt spoon". They made a lot of power on top, but nothing on bottom. The only way to make them work in a race set up was a ton of compression, timing and water injection. Then it was only marginally good at that point.

ok? I dont know that much about malone's skis.... awesome setup I'm sure.... maybe the type 9 worked better for that engine setup? bpipe rocks for the limited superjet which is what I guess I was talking about... I love mine... thats for sure!

Have you tried a well-setup dry pipe?
Im sure he hasn't, and lets leave it that way so the price and availability stays reasonable. Dry is on my ski, Factory B is on the refrigerator.

I have tried dry pipe... but not on my superjet... I had the factory dry pipe on one of my blasters and it was OK... it was the big giant one though... one time I was replacing the o-ring and just yanked the thing off and stuck the b-pipe on... b-pipe was much better.... maybe that dry pipe was just not the best one? I have heard good things about the riva freeride pipe and the speedworx pipe... never tried those... maybe I will someday?

That Blaster pipe may have not been the best, not the same as the type 4 at all.

Cool... I hope I can find someone sporting a type 4 this year and try it... type 4 is the Riva Freeride pipe? or other?

I still like my bpipe though... all the bpipes I have used have worked very well with absolutely no issues after installation... this was an old thread anyways... who the heck reserected it?

No idea who brought it back, both are good pipes but the B is easier easier to install and work on no doubt. If I need to pull the pipe off or the head, I might as well pull the whole motor to do it the easy way.
