You are still wanting to know the beat surf hull right? I understand the meaning "all around" surf hull but you are focusing very heavily on carving hard without sliding and high speed riding without porpoising. I don't do any of that type of riding inbetween sets of chest to head high surf or even small surf. I'm not bashing your desire for those things but maybe a full length ski would better suit you. Some people like their surf skis to be very loose and nimble (I do personally) but if you want your ski to stay planted and be more predictable then I'd say try some full length versions of these hulls or maybe just stick with a Superjet. If you want lightweight then get a carbon superjet.
It's nice to get other peoples opinions but this is exactly why you are going to get advise that may not relate to your preferences. When I read your first post about a surf hull I didn't think you'd be so adamant about high speed turning and straight line speed without porpoising... That kinda changed my view as your perfect surf hull. Maybe I'm way off but that's how I see it

MB, if what you're after is a hull that carves f'n hard, sticks to the water like crazy, rails turns, does great turns and still feels light - look no further than the LWDE Revolution hull. It does all that superbly.

yea my hull rips turns.

masterblaster you were at body beach this year? you should have taken my hull for a spin.

ktm, valid points, but im just talking about the sf itself and what it lacks,it is more important to me to have a nimble maneuverable ski in the wave face thananything else, but i surf ride alot at higher speeds than most, and i live on the river and chase boats a good bit.I agree though,id prolly love a neg 3 superjet with the nose chopped off and rockered with the pole moved forward.ive flown over the bars on pearled reintres a many of time. I also carve very hard bottom turns on good sized surf....someone else reminded me ....it is pretty much a flatwater turn down there....right? Take the flatwater back flip out and everything else I think many people want is possible in one hull....but like sportfish mentioned the modular rear end like the DE uses and even the flatwater flip might still be in the realm of possibility..

I really like the idea of the french made allaround model...id love a go on one of those...

Zack,I would of loved to really, but I never saw it in the water,I saw it on a stand in front of the blowsion tent a few times, I wasnt at body beach long on monday, few hours,we were in a rush to get back to vegas to party, our flight out was early the next day..Im coming to the jk pismo ride next yr,just couldnt do it this yr with a contract for work coming up I was at world finals for 6 days...never again, way to long...the LWDE looks like what I would consider a strong contender..I just dont think i could drop that much coin on a hull and live with myself afterwards..
The jb1 is very interesting also, wish there were some here...anyone know the pricing on those yet coming to the states?

sj is way too long for me now,it feels like im trying to ride a tomahawk missile with a pole after riding all the shortened hulls im totally over it,A sj would have to be modded HARD for me to stay with it long term now

p.s.

any hull thats wider than a superjet isnt going to be as high performance...90% of waveriding is done on rail so the easier to lay over the better..thats why a sj without front sponsons sucks because the sides are flat..the shape of the tubbie does more than the added width when its layed over at 90deg..

a wider hull is going to be easier to ride but not easier to ride well..

i think u mean freestyle pete with the fp1 hull...i might be getting a chance to put one through the paces in the future...its a modified 08 sj bottom...if he was able to loosen it up it could be a winner...

Yes, that's it. Thanks Andrew, I thought it was Watty.

i assumed it was outa new zealand...lol

with all these new hulls being designed you would think someone would have the recipe for a rockered hull that slips a little on the face when held flat but rails a corner and holds when ya dig the bond rail in and attempt to drag a hip....

Im not sure if "designed" is the correct word for it..hahah

Tubbies do widen the footprint of the hull and add more floatation to help pop off a wave but more importantly the flared shape that it gives your ski (similar to a snowboard) causes the ski to actually turn when laid over on edge. They also give your ski somewhat of a pivot point as well which helps for turns

why not ....Design is the creation of a plan or convention for the construction of an object or a system as in, engineering or drawing something up

Tubbies rock i have had them on every sj ive owned,I never really noticed they turned better in flat water after I added them, but deff had more stability in slow spped surf riding and more pop on surf turns..I know racers used a diff ver of them yrs back and ran them a bit higher on the hull,so that does make sense.
