I know he's a talented respectable rider but what works for him might not work for the next guy. He may be right but some details would make that statement have more authority.

I was joking.

It is a bad ass ski and a lot of fun to ride though. I only spent about 10 minutes on Zacks. I'd like to have spent longer.

waveblaster783...hold that thought on a motor you cant hold wide open for more than a sec..theres something coming down the line built for surf with tons of torque built like nothing you have ever seen before...that you will be able to hold wide open in the right conditions as long as you like. and can hold on...and priced affordable at the surf market.....more on that later
So what was this?

Everyone Stop asking about weight and length or rider opinions just buy a Footrocket and stop asking questions.

YOU DONT NEED TO TEST RIDE EVERYTHING TO FIND A GOOD HULL.

: )

Mine will be here around Thanksgiving. I've wanted a Krash hull from the minute I say Nick's first JB-1. Can't wait to have a foot rocket in my possession!

So what was this?

The details of that will be posted soon,if things go right a demo ski with this motor package will be ready for daytona...part of the reason for this thread, trying to fig out what hull to use for that purpose.

Reading Matts ride report on the footrocket,it looks as though that is what he will be riding next,I was pretty impressed with it myself,id like to try the jb1 as well though.

The lwde always gets good reviews, how does it differ from a sj in terms of handling?

Yah I ordered a carbon Footrocket. But keep in mind that I am after a pure flatwater boat.
I didn't get enough time on the LWDE setup to have an accurate comparison to a SJ, nor am I good enough at riding SJ's anymore lol. But here's my impression: it does everything a SJ does, but better. It turns faster, more effortlessly. It sticks to the water far better when you want it to. It breaks loose just fine, too.
Carves real nice without much effort. Overall, the handling is just faster. Probably has to do with it being shorter. The hull geometry is not drastically different from a SJ. It's shorter and it's wider. It has no rocker. You can change the hull area leading up to the intake grate (choices are flat and concave, like a Freak).

I think id like a lwde from the way you describe it,I do really like the way the freak handles a wave with the rocker and the general feel it has in surf though also,It makes me wonder what degree of rocker can be used and still be able to rail and carve a corner if the bond rails were kept a little smaller and higher,I dont think most of us need TONS of stability.
Matt your after a purpose built flat water hull? What does the footrocket do in flats for you the superfreak doesnt other than carve turns ?

I'm not after carving at all. I wasn't when I bought the Freak and I am not now.
I had the Superfreak for two years and it really helped improve my flatwater riding. But I was ready for a change, to keep improving and not get stuck in a rut.
After trying a Bob and the Footrocket, I realized that the Freak was just a little bit too long for some newer tricks (consecutive flips, flat spins) with less than a 1200 or super talent.
Summing it up, the Footrocket handles a lot faster/shorter than a Freak without sacrificing stability. You can do everything handling related just by subtly shifting your weight (on the FR). That feeling is really unique - haven't felt it on any other hull I've tried. As example, I mentioned that the Bob handles short & fast, too. And it does....but not as effortlessly as the FR, which does it almost like a mind extension because the weight placement is just that subtle and almost sub-conscious.

That makes sense,I felt the same thing as you in riding it.The only diff I see than you is the freak to me felt MUCH more stable than the footrocket, that said I was surprised how stable the footrocket was for such a short ski,With a long rideplate,it seemed like a very surf capable hull as well,Nick did afterall create the hull for surf riding correct? You might not be after carving, but its worth noting that it carves ANY kind of turn very well
