I think the only thing more off topic would be desert related. I bought this place on April 8th, 2016. Since then, we have been working on it over the weekends and slowly making it fit my height (I'm 6'9", seriously!) and our style. I have a scattered collection of pictures that I would like to have somewhere to scroll through in coming years, and what better place than the X. Our place is a 1750 sqft yellow brick built in 1880. Before us, it was owned by a couple who bought it at 25 yrs old, and lived there until they went to a nursing home at 85. As I am 25 now, it seems fitting.

Home inspection went well, with a few concerns like a chimney that needed to be taken down, a bathroom that was aweful, and lots of crap patch work by the previous owner (I can only assume). They liked to cover things up rather than fix the damage/issues. In multiple rooms we have 3/8" drywall, nailed up, with 1/8" paneling over it. Like, why?

The house has a decently new roof, mid 90's vinyl windows (i think), and a new forced air furnace.

First order of business was to replace the short inset tub/shower combo with a clawfoot and walk in shower.

While the weather was nice, we moved to the outside. re-pointing the bricks and foundation, removing the chimney and taking down the radio tower. I have a radio tower video I'll post, it was interesting. We used a long rope over the house to my truck to lower it, but it went a touch sideways. No, it wont make the carnage thread.

Anyways, the chimney. We saved about 150 bricks. Yes, those are bath towels over our 2nd floor windows. We found out they stained the house red back in the 50's, which is why the grout is a bit red and theres a big stripe up the house. It'll get scrubbed off in the spring.

Since then, we have grouted the floor, been sanding lots of drywall as my mudding skills arent ace just yet, and we re-finished our pantry, just finishing the drywall hanging. This room had no ceiling, no insulation and random barn boards for wall coverings. Like scrap pieces, not nice barn board. Full gut.

Out of order, heres a few shots I've found.

This closet was taken out to fit the bathroom.

And on the other side of the wall, the tiny bathroom before. The naked cherubs really sold us on this place. I should add that there was no heat to this bathroom or the bedroom behind it. As in, its never had heat. That has been resolved when we put in the jack studs, we ran a 4" solid line off the furnace.

And the laundry hole filled back in. Pex was encased in sand, lots and lots of sand. Also ran a 2" pvc line in there for future under slab needs.

Ah, makes sense, but we found it in odd places like the skinning of a external closet. Regardless, it will all get replaced with 1/2" or in some areas will add the 1/2" to the 3/8" to save from having to demo the room and still bring it up to code.

Tub is in. Only thing left is the vanity light, as we haven't found one we like yet, and the bathroom mirror I have to make after wave daze.

Thats one half of a towel bar I cant find the cross bar for haha. I tried a hinge stop however it wont work as we have 1" thick trim. Need to come up with something though, likely door mounted near the bottom.
