Thinking about Buying a new Rickter XFS

Looking for general advice from people that have bought one or own one. I want to learn how to do more tricks than I can do on my SJ.

Any options that are must have or ones you ordered and didn't really need. What's a better option, less weight in a hull or more power. I can do one or the other, funds won't allow both. Will the carbon hull hold up for a rec rider?

Just a question, since it sounds like this will be your first AM hull...but have you test ridden a bunch of different hulls from different companies? Rickters are sick for sure! They have amazing fit and finish, best in the industry. But there may be another hull out there that you would like more.

What kind of riding do you do? Im guessing mostly flat water since you are in texas.

Matt has the right idea, it would suck for you to dump $6500+ into a hull and not like the way it rides. Get out to a ride and test out some hulls that are in your budget.

too heavy fiber xfs and quality is worse than the old.

51 kgs and bad varnish.

My xfs 2013 after 2 years was like new... And 49 kgs.

I buy the new and the quality isn t the same.

Very good hull to ride...

We ride all over TX & have family at Loto, so ride there also. Lake riding only. Have lots of experience on SJ's and SXR's. I've ridden a few aftermarket hulls, but going to Havasu next week to ride more and talk to all vendors there. Rickter just seems the best for me after on-line research and I love the looks. I want a 100% freestyle ski, (keeping my SJ).

Even though it's flat water riding it can get rough and our skis take a pounding. Will a carbon ski hold up, plan to keep it for a long time?

Carbon skis will absolutely hold up for a long time, pending you buy a quality hull. Go ride as many skis as you can handle to in Havasu. I would suggest riding the California Freestyle Phantom, Rage Composites Havoc, Superfreak Circus, Xscream KDX, WDK RIP, Tigercraft Aquabot, Hurricane Industries C2 or C3 and all the rest of the freestyle boats you can get your hands on.

If you want a strictly flatwater freestyle Rickter, you will be looking at the Carbon Ninja, and that comes with a 10K price tag.

Good luck in your search!

Let me know if your interested in the aerial. I'm in Fort Worth. I can let you take it for a test ride but engine won't be included. But the carbon will hold up just fine. Many guys are going just as big on flatwater as some surf riders.

Seriously though, my carbon foot rocket holds up awesome in Oregon surf. It would handle lakes just fine.

Thanks for input, I'll be riding as many as I can.

So is carbon hull and say a 950 engine is better than a glass hull and a 1100 or 1200? The savings in a glass hull = more $ for engine. That being said I think lighter is always better so I'm leaning that way. It's not like a 950 isn't some major power and the engine could be upgraded in the future.

Sound right?

I'm in the process of going back to a 701 in my Krash, but the waves out here are big. I'm not the best person for advice on flat water. I moved from Nebraska to Oregon last year so I could get to the surf. However, if you get the chance to ride a Krash and you like it, I'll do everything I can to get you what you're looking for.

I got one on order. Saw a glass 2015 which looked fine. They have a pretty solid rep.

All engines with non billet cases are same price up to 1100cc 10mil.
Its all about fine tunning to get the most out of those engines. A short ski with that power will be a lot of flat water fun either glass or carbon

Hit up a few guys and try out the Rickters as well as some others at WF, if you play close attention you will learn a ton. Best investment ever is spending time deciding what to do first.

I bought a glass XFR, never gelled with it mostly because it was sooo heavy, more like it was riding me especially with the 1100 in it. Sold it and bought a carbon FR2, no regrets, I absolutely love it! the xfr was always trying to hurt me!
