Other Thinking of selling the SXR for a superjet.. HELP

I bought an 04 sxr last year and did a few mods on it, i love riding the ski. I live on a small inland lake and all i want to do is get more air to to start doing some tricks (even a simple 180) , and mess around on boat wakes and such but my sxr just doesnt seem to wanna leave the water. I know its a heavy ski and the superjet is much better for freeride/freestyle but ive never rode one, all my buddies ride 750's. A guy i know has an 04 superjet, pretty clean and all stock other than bilge, ride plate, and intake grate he will sell me for $3800. What do i do.. i keep telling myself how can i not like the superjet more than the kawi but im not convinced just yet.

buy both! best of both worlds. I have a a pretty heavily modded 98 (ported 850, b pipe, pole, foot holds ect ect..) and a stock 98 with foot holds and home modded quick steer. Both boats handle so different its crazy. But its fun and keeps me entertained to ride both in the same day.

Comparing an SXR to a Super jet is really like comparing apples to oranges. They are both great skis, but in very different arenas. The best option obviously is one of each but most of us can't afford that luxury so if you have to choose between the two, the Super jet is the best "ALL AROUND" in that it can be raced fairly competitively as well as its really fun free ride ski also. (BTW $3800 is a pretty fair deal for a clean 04)

You are going through a very normal phase. Lots of guys on here were big SXR fans (including myself), and eventually made the move to the SJ. None of us have ever looked back, and neither will you.

I totally agree with wakerider26. I have had RN superjets since the late 90's but quit riding and started offshore fishing for several years. I got back into riding two years ago and bought an SXR and loved it. No one could have convinced me I would ever go back to the Superjet. Well, after about a season on the SXR I got back into riding shape and started riding the superjet again. The SXR now collects alot of dust unless the Superjet is broken. The SXR is kind of like a Blaster, fun for buoys, rough chop, big waves. boring on flat water.

Well guys, sold the sxr on saturday and picked up this SJ last night. It is a 2002, all stock motor. -4 umi pole with blowsion carbon chin pad, bilge pump, grips/bars. Nice ski other than the paint chipping on the hood which sucks because otherwise it would be mint.. i see most of them do that tho huh? Anyways i picked it up a couple hours away for $3200, howd i do? Going to be a busy winter in the garage :burnout:newsj.png

Well looks like I'm to late very sorry for you mistake. I would never part with my sxr, I fell for the hype of the sj last winter I got a 00 sj and built it into a freestyle ski. I spent all winter building it rode it a few times and sold it with in two weeks. To each there own but imo the sj can't hold a candle to the sxr, in stock condition the sxr can jump just as high, is about 4 mph faster, handles 100% better, stays hooked up no mater what condition, and because of the power can be thrown around just as easy.

I prefer my 02 SJ vs. my brother's SXR. With my prop, b-pipe, water-box, etc. it is faster than his stock SXR. I personally prefer the way SJ handles / turns / jumps / whatever, but I have seen him get some impressive air with the SXR. There is not a right answer. I do like cruising around on the SXR when I am tired because it does ride really nice. I think you got a good deal at that price, so good work with that.

That's really not fair to say that your ski which has about $2000+ in upgrades is faster then a stock sxr. And I also would say at top speed your sj is no fun to ride. They get really hard to handle past 3/4 throttle.

All in rider preference .... I think you got a good deal and now ride it for a while and if you want more freestyle type riding you have all the components to swap to an aftermarket hull fairly easily.

Just my 2 cents

I didn't mean it as mine was better than a SXR. It was more that mine was FINALLY faster than the stock SXR after my upgrades. (hopefully some clarification) Going fast in a straight line on the SJ is fun for a little while. I prefer the SJ because it is what I normally ride. My wife hates Superjets, and says if we get an extra ski it has to be a SXR.

I my self have no problem handling my SJ at full pined. I have never took a gps to see top speed, but next to my dad's FX-SHO it can do 55 and my SJ is not propped for speed. IMO its more fun to ride and high speed because its more of a challenge to ride. To each there own, SXR are nice but overall SJ's are more versatile and more fun. This is MY OPINION, not trying to argue with anyone.:eek:uttahere:
