Thought I would show off my stand.

I have a project in the car garage and my ski is getting battered outdoors. Though I should make something compact enough to move in in out freely while I work on my car. Now I just have to go get my ski.

It is 1/4" strap so it should be plenty strong I think. I have a tarp over my ski now. Dust can get between the ski and tarp; in any wind it will jack your paint all up like sand paper. I went out to the ranch to put a U-Haul blanket between it and the tarp and it is already too late. I hope I can buff it out. I think it is only on the nose piece though.

Nice stand, what gauge metal is it made from, I was going to use 1/8 (11 gauge) but they only had 14 gauge which seems plenty strong.

Nice stand! You may want to consider using locking wheels on one side..

I make them like that also.

Nice stands. if that tab is 1/4" plate then with a good weld it should hold with no issues.
Mark.. Nice big wheels. I bet that think rolls like a cadi.

14 gauge is .083 thats a good choice. I have one thats .062 which I had issues welding with my stick rod machine.

You guys have an idea of the cost involved? A month ago I bought a Superior Watercraft stand off of the guy on eBay. It cost me about 180 shipped. I figured in the time and effort I saved, it was an ok deal. ebay screwed me and wouldn't let em use a coupon I found online for 10% off.

I got a quote from th one and only local powder coating place for $120 to sand blast and paint a reese hitch for my truck. So considering my new stand is already powder coated it will practically pay for itself in a few years of use.

I also made a wood stand out of pressure treated lumber for my other ski that cost about 70 bucks in materials to make. Both stands are working pretty good I must say!

Oh yeah, the Superior only has one tab on the 2x4's.

In my opinion, Jetlyne makes the best stand up work stand out there. The short stands are really only good for enclosed trailer transport, and clearing up storage space..

The stand cost about $22 to make excluding the wheels, which I had. You need 12' of steel and 8' of 2'x4'. You can get the castors from Harbor Freight for $4.00 each, I preffer the stud type so no flange needs to be bought/fabbed/welded. Total... $39.00 or so without carpet. Pretty damn cheap

If I had a shop and less stuff goin on, I would sell these on the side.

I had our plant make mine the casters are from Colson caster T 304 SS I think they were about 45 bucks each two locking swivel and two rigid. They just happen to be left over from a project. I have two of these stands, the other stand I can change out the vertical uprights to longer uprights makes it easy on the back to work on the ski.

heres a idea for ya
fit a piece of plywood on the bottom then use some 2x4 to "enclose" or "box in" and you have a shelf to put your gear, parts ect when not in use or working on ski

I believe I saw a stand once that had a basket you could attach to the base and have a place to put tools and such.

Here are the pictures of the wooden stand I made.

Here's my SJ kitchen storage stand. My trailer when backed up to my front door lines right up with it. Just a couple treated 2x4's with casters

I've got one similar to you guys for the garage. Even has a tilt function (it used to be a display model for the local stealership)

14 ga is plenty heavy for these. I'm going to go even thinner on the next one I build.

After seeing that I may keep my ski inside downstairs while I wrap up my project in the garage, I dont spend much time down there anyhow. I like how you have custom tailored your stand to your home, does it go with the house when you sell?

I don't think so - my house is about to fall in on itself. Would be a waste of a perfectly good stand!
