Thought you had a bad day?

I was visiting my folks and a boat washed up on shore. Supposedly, a guy borrowed him a father in laws boat and while out, it lost power. When it got close to shore, they jumped ship and swam to safety. Nobody was hurt. I’m absolutely mind blown what 3 foot waves can do. In 12 hours there was legitimately nothing left but pieces of fiberglass.

They lost power on a boat with two engines?
And how did they not get a tow out there within an hour or two to save it? I smell insurance scam.
A piece of fiberglass and metal is NEVER worth a life. This is EXACTLY what insurance is for.

Salvage operations are not going to take place during any inclement weather. Again, someone could be injured or drowned from tripping, hitting their head from tripping, getting a line tangled around themselves, etc. Again, a piece of fiberglass is NEVER worth a life.

A lot of these responses are silly. "The father in law must be pissed!" -infantile. The first thing to worry about is loss of life or injury. I dont think I have very many friends that say "hows your truck" after a car crash. They ask, "how are you? How is the other driver?"

Errrr, "all swam to shore safely"......... Most comments here were very common statements from mostly experiences people on the water. Father in law must be pissed. That statement can be very true, he can also be glad everyone is ok at the same time. Called human nature. .........

So, the latest rumor is that he ran out of gas.. tried to anchor the boat and didn’t tie the anchor to the boat…. Clearly, someone who didn’t have any business being in charge of the boat.

salvage company came came and lifted the remains of the engine, cables, and pieces of fiberglass entangled in it. With a $6500 bill.

Not in my circle.
I ride sportbikes. People always tell me "ride safe!" and my reply is the same: NO. Safe is boring.
