Other Thoughts about Fuel Line

The tygon does change color. Mine is still soft after a season. I have used it upto two seasons and was not hard or breaking down but it was dirty looking. I don't know how long it would last because I change it every couple seasons but its safe to say not as long as oem. That stuff lasts 20 years. I use tygon because I can see my fuel flow. Tricky did notice once on my ski where I was sucking air at a fuel fitting. That the good part about these type lines. Otherwise I might have never known. But had I had OEM line. There would not have been an air leak!

FWIW Ive been using Tygon in my B1 for the past 3 seasons. Entire time its been using E10 fuel and left in the cold during winters. Still soft and I dont have to use zip ties. It has gotten a fog to its color though.

Now if you really want to do something find a supplier for oem Yamaha fuel line, the closest I have been able to come thus far is some guy selling Nylar fuel line on Ebay for motorcycles.

My new build is including stanless braided fuel lines like they use on top fuel Harley drag bikes!!! (requires changing ALL your fittings tho because you have to screw the lines on not push them on).

I'm going to have the baddest 6M6 650cc sq nose on the planet!!!

I have old oem fuel line from like a 95 SN that had finally split. It takes along time for oem stuff to break down. It's by far the best stuff going, I mean Yamaha uses it right. I can get tygon just down the road at home hardware. It's never let me down. I have used it on mini bikes lawn mowers and even temporarily on my vw fuel injection. My kubota diesel has some on it and its fine. I think my 1969 Honda mini trail has some on it for close to 10 years but it gets little use. In the winter when I am overhauling things on the ski, fuel line gets done needed or not. The old clear stuff would go from soft flexible rubber to rigid solid breakable line in less than a month. My kart tank came with some and it's junk line. With clear line I can pop the hood and see if I have a fuel problem or ignition problem if I drop a cylinder. That hasn't happened in a while but it is kinda nice. I am not against oem fuel line at all. If I could get it local I would use it.

How are people ordering oem fuel line? I would think you could find a couch with a long run of line.

I get all mine from Jetmaniac or from couches I part out but you can order it new from Yamaha. Just pick a model like the 2000 SUV that has the longest runs possible and order a couple of those.

l agree with OEM.Not pretty, but no problems.Never had a line (oem) that leaked or lost pressure.l can leave my skis for a week and start right up (with no primer).

Bought all of my oem lines off of ebay. You might get some of the line that is a little hard but it is a good deal.

This is a very disappointing thread. I really wanted to go to colored fuel line someday. Is my primer line going to break down? It's the slightly yellowed tinted clear stuff that comes in the kit with the plunger.

Are there any problems with the colored cooling lines?

I like the Yamaha line because it is thin walled and it can be bent and twisted like a pretzel and will not kink . Even the cold fusion line will kink if its bent , cutting off fuel dlivery . That and the fact oem will out last your ski . I get it in 3 or 4 foot strips . Retail around $30 but its around $20 at an online discout place .
