Thoughts on this video I'm sure everyone has seen before... Freestyle 65U

I know this video has been here before, but it just keeps intriguing me to build my own 1200 sj.... for attempted flatwater freestyle.

I am looking for thoughts and opinions, as well as if anyone has any information on this particular ski's mods. Obviously it is very short with a lot of bolt ons and some custom looking chamber. I'm sure it is not running a stock pump either. But it seems to work pretty good....

Is it worth the experiment? Have there been any other freestyle or freeride triple powered superjets comparable to this one?

I am lucky enough to ride with some pretty experienced guys. None seem too keen on the 1200 as a good freestyle powerplant. This thread is kinda a last ditch effort to gain some support.... But I certainly don't want to waste my time building a ski that's too heavy for it's intended use.

Thanks
Brandon

Wow I wasn't expecting that to flip. I'd imagine you'd have to count your lbs pretty carefully and have a well modded engine. I say go for it. Worst case you could sell the engine to someone who doesn't care if their SJ flips. It would be a good race set up.

It's worth pointing out that's no stock hull. At the very least stock heavily modded.

The idea seems to get people fired up in a negative way. A flatwater backflip is the holy grail of the jetski world and riders are willing to spend a lot for the privilege. I like the idea of being able to do a flatwater flip on a $3000 ski, someone who just dropped 5X that probably doesnt.

Well guys I appreciate all of the input. I picked up a dead gp1200 needing a rebuild on the cheap today, came up for sale right near my place.

If I get going on this soon I'll start a new thread with some pics. Still not sure which direction I'll go. Thanks for the input

One look at the pole will tell you the rest of the ski is heavily modded. That thing looks shorter than the pole on the new Circus Freak.

Good luck with the build!

One that will float? Lol

I'm pretty sure it don't, but man what a sweet riding hull.

i say do it man , i know where there is a short superjet hull you can get for cheap haha

And turn my back on all the squares? I dunno if this rook is ready for round. But I will keep it in mind cause again, what a sweet riding hull.

First thing I want to do is weigh the complete 1200, electronics and carb and compare them to a 61x/62t with electronics and carbs. I want to know exactly how much more weight I'm going to be adding to this ski.

The 1200 swaps I've seen are all on stock length racing skis. The main complaint seems to be that they are nose heavy and plow through the water. Kinda makes sense with a long hull no?

My shortened square already tends to ride nose high, my thinking is that the shortened hull will better distribute the weight of the triple. That is probably why the hull in the video is -10 or more.
