Threaded tab on Midshaft housing

What is the extra threaded tab on the midshaft housing for? I assume this fits other Yamaha models and may be used on them. But it’s in the way of my dual bilge set up and I’m about to hack it off... don’t think I need it for anything CA606B8E-8119-4BCF-8A27-B9273E40BE93.jpeg

You can cut it off, after market housing don’t have it.. it may hold the lube zirk fitting and mid shaft lube hose bracket.

Iam Not sure where the lube brackets normally bolts too, I attached one of Mine to an intake manifold bolt to make it assessable...

Iam not using the lube hose anymore. Cold fusion housing doesn’t use it and my new OE is plugged with a cap bolt

Some Yamaha sit down models use the same Bearing housing. Like a GP1200r. And the on that model the rubber mounts for coupler cover are on the engine and the other end bolts to the bearing housing. That's why it had a threaded boss. Yamaha likes to use same parts across different models.

I figured that was the case!
